Racing Incident Report
Race Five: (368) - THE CENTENARY SPRINT CUP - Class G1 - 1200Meters
REGENCY LEGEND, which made contact with a rail when proceeding to the track, was examined by the Veterinary Officer on arrival at the Start and found to be suitable to race.
On arrival at the Start, it was noted that BUDDIES had blood in its mouth.
BUDDIES was examined by the Veterinary Officer and found to be suitable to race.
WISHFUL THINKER was slow to begin., When left racing wide after the 1000 Metres, FAT TURTLE was steadied and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
STRONGER was left racing wide and without cover at the 900 Metres.
Near the 50 Metres, REGENCY LEGEND momentarily raced tight inside VOYAGE WARRIOR when improving inside that horse.
Over the concluding stages, BIG PARTY lay in under pressure, requiring its rider to stop riding with the whip.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on REGENCY LEGEND at the request of Trainer C S Shum.
The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, REGENCY LEGEND will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of JOLLY BANNER, WISHFUL THINKER and AMAZING STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
HOT KING PRAWN and REGENCY LEGEND were sent for sampling.

Favourite Hot King Prawn took control 150m out after a box-seat run. He was winning for the 12th time from 23 starts and a deserved one at Group One level. Specked late, Regency Legend stayed on well following a rail run in midfield to get the head down late for second over Big Party. It was a terrific effort following a host of issues over the past 392 days on the bench. Big Party ran on well from behind midfield to just miss second prize. He was able to back-up a solid effort earlier this month over the straight 1,000m. Punted late, Voyage Warrior had no more in the tank 50m out after getting pestered for the lead by Computer Patch. He's not quite Group One material and prefers a wet track. Computer Patch weakened to finish next best after prompting the pace without cover from a wide draw. He's not quite good enough at level weights. Fat Turtle ran on without menacing settling fourth last from a wide draw. He's not quite good enough at this level.
