Recap by phillip woo

Tianchi Monster quickened nicely between runners to grab victory 60m out following a patient ride second from the rear. He was suited by the step up to a mile after a positive run on opening day over the 1,400m. Punted late Charity Go might not have beaten the winner but he did have to produce a ducking-and-weaving run to get up for second from behind midfield. Gift Of Lifeline stayed on well to place after improving to settle boxseat 900m out. He continues to race well after winning two starts back. Cheerful Leader got going late near the outside from beyond midfield to fill the frame. He rarely produces a bad run. The Hulk was yielding ground 100m out after getting every opportunity in front. He's not reliable. Plunged late Ever Laugh will sleep well after a wide without cover run better than midfield. Favourite Mr Aldan did not fire after a one-out, one-back run. He's capable but very hard to get right.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (40) - LAI KING HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1600Meters

MONICA was slow to begin.

CHEERFUL LEADER, CHARITY GO and TIANCHI MONSTER were all steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.

Despite being vigorously ridden in the early stages, EVER LAUGH was slow to muster speed and after being steadied in an attempt to obtain cover passing the 1500 Metres was then left racing wide and without cover after the 1300 Metres.

Approaching the 1000 Metres, MONICA lost ground when crowded for room inside TIANCHI MONSTER (V Borges) which improved into tight running inside CHEERFUL LEADER.

V Borges was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Making the turn near the 850 Metres, MR ALDAN and EVER LAUGH bumped.

After this, MR ALDAN got its head up when awkwardly placed behind DECISIVE ACTION.

CHEERFUL LEADER made the Home Turn awkwardly.

CHARITY GO was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and then, when improving into tight running between GIFT OF LIFELINE and DECISIVE ACTION near the 350 Metres, was steadied when DECISIVE ACTION, which was commencing to give ground, got its head on the side and lay in despite the efforts of its rider.

CHARITY GO was then shifted to the inside of GIFT OF LIFELINE approaching the 300 Metres.

Approaching the 100 Metres, CHARITY GO brushed the hindquarters of GIFT OF LIFELINE when improving into tight running between that horse and THE HULK which shifted out under pressure.

After the race, K Teetan reported that HELENA BABY travelled well in the early stages, however, after being placed under pressure passing the 600 Metres did not quicken as anticipated and then failed to finish off the race.

A veterinary inspection of HELENA BABY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Also after the race, Z Purton reported that MR ALDAN became unbalanced in its action after passing the winning post.

A veterinary inspection of MR ALDAN immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained a minor laceration to the left hind heel.

MR ALDAN, TIANCHI MONSTER and CHARITY GO were sent for sampling.
