Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Joy Master came from behind midfield and one off the fence to run down Art Of Raw near the 50m for the win. He won well despite a moderate tempo. Art Of Raw wouldn't go down without a fight after surging to the lead 400m stalking the slow pace of Who's Horse. The Full Bloom just got up late for third after enjoying a lovely run in the box-seat. He's very well rated but is more effective over the 1,400m. Who's Horse boxed on after getting headed for the lead 400m out. A combination of a big weight and lack of fitness was his undoing. Green Generation closed strongly down the outside after making his run second from the rear. It was an encouraging effort on the back of a slow pace You can forget the run of the late-fancied Great Smart who was never on the track travelling better than midfield. Fortune Patrol never got into the act after settling last from a wide gate. The race wasn't run to suit and he's better suited over a longer trip.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (1) - MOUNT PARKER HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1600Meters

ENJOYABLE SUCCESS was slow to begin.

WILLFUL was crowded for room on jumping between GREAT SMART and AMAZING AGILITY which shifted out after being brushed by ART OF RAW.

Then, from a wide barrier, WILLFUL was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

JOY MASTER, which began only fairly, was steadied away from the heels of FORTUNE BUDDY which shifted out on jumping.

For some distance approaching and passing the 1200 Metres, BRAVERY AND POWER travelled keenly and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of ART OF RAW approaching the 1100 Metres.

Near the 1150 Metres, FORTUNE PATROL was brushed and taken wider by WILLFUL which proved very difficult to settle and shifted out abruptly from behind AMAZING AGILITY.

Rounding the Home Turn, FORTUNE PATROL was awkwardly placed outside the heels of WILLFUL which got its head on the side and shifted out away from GREEN GENERATION.

In the early part of the Straight, BRAVERY AND POWER was disappointed for running between GREAT SMART and THE FULL BLOOM which shifted out.

Then near the 200 Metres, BRAVERY AND POWER was again disappointed for a run between THE FULL BLOOM and GREAT SMART and was consequently directed to the outside of GREAT SMART to obtain clear running near the 100 Metres.

Throughout the race, GREAT SMART travelled wide and without cover.

After the race, A Hamelin reported that although FORTUNE PATROL was slowly away and was unable to muster speed in the early stages, he anticipated that the horse would finish off the race strongly.

He said however after being placed under heavy pressure rounding the Home Turn and in the Straight, FORTUNE PATROL was disappointing in its failure to finish off the race.

A veterinary inspection of FORTUNE PATROL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

JOY MASTER and ART OF RAW were sent for sampling.
