Race Three: (740) - THE MACWHINNIE CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1000Meters
COMFORT LIFE began very awkwardly, resulting in V Borges' left foot slipping out of the stirrup iron momentarily.
V Borges, who was unbalanced, then adjusted his right foot in the stirrup iron near the 900 Metres.
SOLAR POWER and BRILLIANT were slow to begin.
UNIVERSAL RECORD began only fairly, then shifted out and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FABULOUS EIGHT.
SUPER KIN was bumped by STRONG PROMISE on jumping.
Passing the 400 Metres, JIANGXI STAMINA (M F Poon) raced greenly and shifted in abruptly.
After the race, M F Poon reported that JIANGXI STAMINA made an abnormal breathing noise during the race.
A veterinary inspection of JIANGXI STAMINA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Before being allowed to race again, JIANG STAMINA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Approaching the 300 Metres, JUMBO ENGINE was shifted out away from the heels of DR EQ which lay out.
After this, DR EQ continued to lay out under pressure.
SPARKLING KNIGHT and FABULOUS EIGHT were sent for sampling.

Sparkling Knight led and drew clear 200m to win by five lengths at only his sixth start. He's a vastly- improved runner since stepping out in October following a carpus injury in January. Odds-on favourite Fabulous Eight loomed a winning chance 300m out following a handy run near the grandstand side but could not stay with the winner over the final 200m. Punted late Dublin Star kept battling away after chasing the speed near the outside fence. It was another honest effort. Comfort Life ran on late to just edge Super Kin for fourth without menacing the first three after settling behind midfield on the far side. Super Kin kept grinding away after a midfield run in the centre of the course. He came up flat up at only his second start following a long break and might be ready to handle a longer trip. Noble Birth gradually faded after travelling better than midfield from a low draw.
