Recap by phillip woo

Yee Cheong Lucky came on strongly after a rail run behind midfield to get the bob down to win a three-horse photo. It was clearly his best run to date at his 17th start and only fourth after joining the Tony Millard yard. Supreme Plus just failed to get up after switching into a one-off position in midfield at the 600m. He relished a return to the Valley. Firming favourite The Abraxas hit the front 200m out after finding the box-seat from a wide gate 800m out but was just denied in the final few strides. He did everything right but get the win but is clearly a winner waiting to happen at this level. Galaxy Racer ran on well down the outside to finish a non-threatening fourth after a patient ride third from the rear. He's filled the frame in his past five starts at both tracks over a range of distances for his new stable and can bob up at any moment. Harbour Alert was stopping 100m out after straightening two lengths on top following a quick start from gate one.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (651) - SIU MA SHAN HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters

YEE CHEONG LUCKY and JIMSON THE DRAGON bumped at the start.

GALAXY RACER shifted out at the start and bumped GREAT SON which began awkwardly.

After this, GREAT SON was ridden along, however, failed to muster speed.

CHUNGHWA JINGSHEN shifted out at the start and inconvenienced BANDY which from the outside barrier was then steadied and shifted across behind runners.

From a wide barrier, JUNZI was also steadied shortly after the start and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.

After travelling a short distance, JIMSON THE DRAGON was crowded for room between LIGHTNING MISSILE and YEE CHEONG LUCKY, both of which shifted ground.

Passing the 1150 Metres, GALAXY RACER was steadied away from the heels of ISLAND WINNER which lay out.

JIMSON THE DRAGON got its head on the side and hung out making the turn after the 1000 Metres and then after the 900 Metres continued to lay out.

ISLAND WINNER was left racing wide and without cover after the 800 Metres.

After the 700 Metres, JIMSON THE DRAGON raced tight outside SUPREME PLUS which improved into tight running between JIMSON THE DRAGON and LIGHTNING MISSILE.

Then making the turn after the 600 Metres, when continuing to race tight inside JIMSON THE DRAGON, SUPREME PLUS made contact with the hindquarters of LIGHTNING MISSILE which became unbalanced.

Rounding the Home Turn, SUPREME PLUS was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CHUNGHWA JINGSHEN.

In the early part of the Straight, GALAXY RACER got its head on the side and lay in.

Passing the 300 Metres, JUNZI was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of YEE CHEONG LUCKY which shifted in away from CHUNGHWA JINGSHEN.

M Chadwick (GREAT SON) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after the 300 Metres he failed to take sufficient measures to prevent his mount from shifting in which resulted in SUPREME PLUS being directed in and then shifting in further away from GREAT SON and causing CHUNGHWA JINGSHEN to be taken in across the rightful running of JUNZI which was checked.

M Chadwick was suspended from riding in races for the racemeeting to be conducted at Sha Tin on Wednesday, 27 May 2020.

As such, M Chadwick is eligible to resume race riding on Thursday, 28 May 2020.

In addition, Jockey Chadwick was fined $20,000.

Approaching the 250 Metres, HARBOUR ALERT and THE ABRAXAS raced tight.

After the 100 Metres, YEE CHEONG LUCKY was shifted to the outside of THE ABRAXAS (J Moreira) which shifted in under pressure.

J Moreira was reprimanded and advised to keep his mounts on a straight course in similar circumstances.

A veterinary inspection of CHUNGHWA JINGSHEN and JIMSON THE DRAGON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

THE ABRAXAS, YEE CHEONG LUCKY and SUPREME PLUS were sent for sampling.
