Recap by phillip woo

Punted late Humble Steed held off Golden General for the win after surging to the lead 150m out following a three-back run on the fence. Golden General closed well from behind midfield to finish a clear-cut second. He had been making progress in his past three of six starts this term. Hurricane Hunter finished well to place after making his run five back and one off the fence. He's clearly a winner waiting to happen in this grade. Treasure Chest gave very chance but found a few too good after hitting the front 300m out tracking the leader Great Harvest from a wide gate. Red Brick Fighter had every chance after settling one-out, one-back from a tricky gate. He's limited. The Joy Of Giving made headway late without menacing down the outside but was at one point nearly 20 lengths off the leader at the rear of the field. It was a good effort at only his second start. Joy Master ran on without menacing from near last. The pace went against him.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (644) - TOPAZ HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1600Meters

DRAGON BOLT began very awkwardly and lost ground.

MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE and GREAT HARVEST were crowded for room on jumping between GOLDEN GENERAL which began awkwardly and ROCKAGE which shifted out.

In this incident, GOLDEN GENERAL became badly unbalanced after being bumped by GREAT HARVEST.

From the outside barriers, JOY MASTER and THE JOY OF GIVING which bumped shortly after the start were shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.

After travelling a short distance, GOLDEN GENERAL and BLAZING PARTNERS raced tight between GREAT TREASURE which shifted out after becoming badly unbalanced and HURRICANE HUNTER which shifted in.

After the 1000 Metres, ROCKAGE got its head on the side and lay out.

Passing the 800 Metres, MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE was awkwardly placed behind KWAICHUNG BROTHERS.

DRAGON BOLT, which was following MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE, was inconvenienced.

After the 800 Metres, GOLDEN GENERAL commenced to travel keenly and got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of ROCKAGE which continued to lay out.

As a result of ROCKAGE laying out, HUMBLE STEED was able to shift out away from the rail approaching the 700 Metres.

Then after the 700 Metres, ROCKAGE was left racing wide and without cover and continued to lay out and made the Home Turn awkwardly.

At the entrance to the Straight, TREASURE CHEST was bumped on the hindquarters by KEEP GOING which attempted to improve into tight running between TREASURE CHEST and GREAT HARVEST.

KEEP GOING was then steadied passing the 400 Metres when unable to improve between those horses.

After the race, A Hamelin (BLAZING PARTNERS) stated that after shifting his mount to the outside of runners rounding the Home Turn, BLAZING PARTNERS got its head up passing the 250 Metres and then hung in over the concluding stages.

He said, in his opinion, BLAZING PARTNERS appeared to him to be sore behind.

A veterinary inspection of BLAZING PARTNERS immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained a laceration to the right hind leg.

Before being allowed to race again, BLAZING PARTNERS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of JOY MASTER and GREAT HARVEST immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

RED BRICK FIGHTER, HUMBLE STEED and GOLDEN GENERAL were sent for sampling.
