Assimilate just held off Right Choice after surging to the lead 50m out cornering very wide out at the rear of the field. He's really come into his own in his past handful of runs and appears to have the tools to head higher now. Right Choice made it close on the wire after covering ground third from the rear. He's returned to form in his past two starts. Favourite Farhh Above closed well for third without menacing the Quinella pair after making his run five back with cover one off the fence. All In Mind found a few too good after hitting the front 200m out following a handy run. It was another honest effort. Star Of Yuen Long lost a placing 50m out after tracking Simple Elegant for the lead one off the fence. It was a better effort on his past couple. Beauty Rush held his ground following a box-seat run. Kyrus Unicorn wasn't beaten far in the end despite failing to get a clear run from the 250m travelling in last position from the widest gate until the 400m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Ten: (650) - EMERALD HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters

NOBLE STEED began only fairly.

CIRCUIT GLORY began very awkwardly.

ASSIMILATE was crowded for room on jumping between RIGHT CHOICE and SIMPLE ELEGANT which shifted out.

ASSIMILATE was then steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.

WAR ROOM began very awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of KYRUS UNICORN, causing WAR ROOM to become badly unbalanced.

A short distance after this, WAR ROOM was bumped by RIGHT CHOICE.

WAR ROOM and KYRUS UNICORN were then shifted across behind runners from the outside barriers.

Shortly after the start, SUPER STAR was crowded for room between BEAUTY RUSH and ALL IN MIND which, after initially being taken in by STAR OF YUEN LONG, then shifted in away from that horse.

Despite being ridden along for some distance in the early stages, RIGHT CHOICE failed to muster speed.

Approaching the 1200 Metres, CIRCUIT GLORY was momentarily crowded inside MONICA which got its head on the side and shifted in away from SUPER STAR when racing tight to the inside of that horse which in turn was racing tight inside ALL IN MIND.

At the entrance to the Straight, NOBLE STEED and RIGHT CHOICE bumped.

KYRUS UNICORN had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 200 Metres and close to the finishing line was held up for a run behind ALL IN MIND and FARHH ABOVE.

Consequently KYRUS UNICORN was not able to be properly tested and was not ridden out all the way to the end of the race.

Near the 150 Metres, MONICA was steadied when disappointed for running between SUPER STAR and SINCERE BOY which, when giving ground, was taken out by CIRCUIT GLORY which got its head on the side and shifted out away from KYRUS UNICORN.

After this, CIRCUIT GLORY raced tight outside KYRUS UNICORN as that horse shifted out in an attempt to obtain clear running.

At the 150 Metres, the whip of M Chadwick (BEAUTY RUSH) was knocked from his grasp by the whip of M L Yeung (SIMPLE ELEGANT).

Close to the finishing line, STAR OF YUEN LONG raced tight inside ALL IN MIND.

Throughout the race, SINCERE BOY travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of SIMPLE ELEGANT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

FARHH ABOVE, ASSIMILATE and RIGHT CHOICE were sent for sampling.

GENERAL:

Races 6 - 10 were each put back 5 minutes.

6 May 2020 Happy Valley Racemeeting - Race 1 (632) After reviewing the videos, the Stewards felt that it was appropriate to question K Teetan regarding his riding of ALL BEST FRIENDS in the early stages.

K Teetan stated that he was instructed to take up a forward positon as it was anticipated that GOKO, MULTIMAX and LORIZ, which were drawn inside ALL BEST FRIENDS, would take up forward positions.

He said in the early stages he steadied ALL BEST FRIENDS and shifted that horse behind LORIZ which at this stage was being steadied to race outside MULTIMAX.

He said making the turn near the 1050 Metres he was racing in a one-off position outside the heels of GOKO and inside LORIZ and following MULTIMAX.

He said MULTIMAX was being hard ridden to obtain the lead and he anticipated that MULTIMAX would clear GOKO to race on the rail in advance of that horse which would position LORIZ directly to the outside of MULTIMAX which would provide ALL BEST FRIENDS with the opportunity to follow LORIZ, a horse that he anticipated to be a strong chance in the race.

He added after the 1000 Metres MULTIMAX was still being ridden to cross GOKO and therefor he still anticipated that MULTIMAX would lead on the rail.

He said however that after the 950 Metres it became apparent to him that MULTIMAX would not be able to clear GOKO and whilst LORIZ remained racing in a three wide position at this time, that horse held a margin over ALL BEST FRIENDS and he felt that he would have had to ride his mount along to consolidate his position inside LORIZ which was commencing to shift in behind MULTIMAX.

He said in hindsight it may have been better to have done this, however, given the circumstances of the race at that time, he felt that remaining racing behind LORIZ, slightly further back than otherwise may have been, was a better option than riding his mount along at this stage in an endeavour to consolidate his position.

K Teetan was advised that, in the opinion of the Stewards, his riding of ALL BEST FRIENDS in the early part of the race was reasonable, given that it appeared as though MULTIMAX was going to lead and that LORIZ was going to position to its outside.

However, he was told to ensure that he is aware of the changing circumstances of a race so that he is able to either obtain or maintain a favourable position wherever the opportunity exists.

Additional Veterinary Reports from Happy Valley Racemeeting on 6 May 2020 Subsequent official veterinary inspections (without endoscopy) of LORIZ, RICH AND LUCKY, DIONYSUS COLLIN, BRIGHT KID, YEE CHEONG PEGASUS, LIGHTNING STEED, AFTER ME, EPTIWINS, HARMONY N HOME, THE RUNNER, INTERSTELLAR, LARSON, FLYING GENIUS, BEST ALLIANCE, REEL BIZZY, MAGNIFICENT, ISLAND SHINE, CALIFORNIA RAD, PING HAI GALAXY, DANCES WITH DRAGON and ENRICHMENT revealed no apparent abnormality.

Racing Laboratory tests of GOOD DAYS, GALA NIGHT, BULLISH GLORY, VICTORIOUS SEEKER, CURLING LUXURY, HAPPY WARRIOR, FOCUS, SIMPLY FLUKE, MANAGEMENT SUPREME, WOOD ON FIRE, SKY SHOW, SMART OF YOUTH, FLASH FAMOUS, DELIGHTFUL LAOS, GREEN REIGN, DIAMOND BRILLIANT, SHINING GEM, NORDIC WARRIOR, ACCLAIMED LIGHT, CINQUANTE CINQ, CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT, GOOD FOR YOU and BEAUTY SPARK (29.4.20) proved negative.

Race 7: C Schofield (WIND N GRASS) for using the whip down the shoulder on the horse passing the 100 Metres.

General: K Teetan (ALL BEST FRIENDS) re his riding in the early part of the race.
