Recap by phillip woo

Blooming Spirit got up 80m out for the win after saving ground in midfield for a second win and first at this level from his past three starts with a step up to the Valley mile. Punted late Snow Airjet stayed on nicely for second after being held up for a run in the boxseat until the last 100m. He's naturally coming to hand in his four starts. Who's Horse grudgingly gave way after finding the front from a wide gate. It was clearly his best run from five starts. Roman Impero closed off reasonably well to fill the frame after making his run fourth from the back on the fence. Early favourite Methane was yielding ground 100m out after staking the leader one off the fence. Favourite Universal Go Go never ran two from the right after failing to get closer than three deep racing behind midfield from a tricky gate. Green Dispatch peaked on his run 200m out after peeling widest out coming to the final bend following a patient ride third from the back.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (522) - TIN WAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters

ROMAN IMPERO lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and consequently lost ground at the start.

Then when being shifted across to obtain a position closer to the inside rail soon after the start, ROMAN IMPERO was momentarily awkwardly placed on the heels of RIGHTEOUS MATE which lost ground after being crowded for room between UNIVERSAL GO GO which shifted out and GREEN DISPATCH which shifted in.

BLOOMING SPIRIT began only fairly.

From the outside barrier, DOR DOR was steadied and shifted across behind runners soon after the start.

Despite being ridden along in the early stages, GREEN DISPATCH failed to muster speed and consequently approaching the winning post on the first occasion was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.

When GREEN DISPATCH shifted in at the winning post on the first occasion, RIGHTEOUS MATE was steadied away from the heels of that horse.

Passing the winning post on the first occasion, MIGHTY POWER got its head up when being steadied to allow MELBOURNE HALL to cross.

When making ground to the outside of UNIVERSAL GO GO which shifted out passing the 500 Metres, GREEN DISPATCH attempted to savage UNIVERSAL GO GO.

This matter was drawn to the attention of Trainer C S Shum who was advised that whilst GREEN DISPATCH had been reported to have attempted to savage other runners on two previous occasions, given that the latest occurrence was in 2017 and that GREEN DISPATCH had since participated in 12 races, a warning would be placed on the horse.

Mr Shum was however advised that should GREEN DISPATCH offend in a similar manner in the near future, further action may be taken.

For some distance in the early part of the Straight, SNOW AIRJET was awkwardly placed near the heels of WHO'S HORSE when attempting to improve into tight running between that horse and METHANE.

DOR DOR shifted out abruptly in the early part of the Straight under pressure, requiring its rider to stop riding and straighten DOR DOR near the 200 Metres.

ROMAN IMPERO had some difficulty obtaining clear running approaching and passing the 200 Metres.

When improving between WHO'S HORSE and METHANE after the 200 Metres, SNOW AIRJET made contact with METHANE, resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced.

After the race, B Shinn stated that similar to its last start, GREEN DISPATCH did not muster speed in the early stages despite being ridden along.

He said however that GREEN DISPATCH travelled satisfactorily throughout the early and middle stages when ridden in a rearward position and then when placed under pressure from the 500 Metres commenced to improve into the race, albeit he was forced wider due to UNIVERSAL GO GO shifting out to his inside.

He said GREEN DISPATCH then came under heavy pressure and was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish off the race.

A veterinary inspection of GREEN DISPATCH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

After the race, C Y Ho stated that although UNIVERSAL GO GO had cover throughout the event throughout the race, he felt that the horse's performance was impacted by the fact that it was forced to race three wide and carrying 133 lbs.

A veterinary inspection of UNIVERSAL GO GO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

A veterinary inspection of MELBOURNE HALL, which compounded in the Straight after racing wide and without cover from the 1400 Metres, immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of DOR DOR immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, DOR DOR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

UNIVERSAL GO GO, BLOOMING SPIRIT and SNOW AIRJET were sent for sampling.
