Recap by phillip woo

In a long overdue win, Savvy Seven got the gaps near the inside following a midfield run on the fence to get up 30m out at his 23rd start and give trainer John Moore an incredible 1,700th career victory. Shinealot found one just too good after hitting the front 150m out travelling better than midfield outside the eventual winner. Mcmunigal kept on well after a speed-tracking run from a wide gate. He proved a last-start win was not a fluke. Punted late Great Harvest grudgingly gave way after dictating the run. It was his best run to date with a rise in trip. Early favourite Amazing Agility made some ground late without menacing after getting to the outside passing the 400m following a patient ride fourth from the rear. Bring It On came up rather one-paced when asked for an effort following a well-executed run prominent on the fence. Little General came up flat after a torrid run behind midfield as the post-time favourite.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (400) - WANG TAU HOM HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1800Meters

GOLDEN KID was slow to begin.

BANDY began awkwardly and was steadied away from the heels of LITTLE GENERAL which shifted out away from GREAT HARVEST which also shifted out on jumping.

After this, BANDY was shifted across behind runners.

From wide barriers, SKY GEM and WONDERFUL TIGER were steadied in the early stage and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.

After travelling a short distance, BRING IT ON and GOLD VELVET bumped.

Despite being ridden along in the early stages, LITTLE GENERAL failed to muster speed and then after the 1300 Metres was left racing wide and without cover.

Passing the 1600 Metres, WONDERFUL TIGER got its head up when racing ungenerously.

Making the turn near the 900 Metres, GOLDEN KID commenced to travel keenly and was steadied away from the heels of GOLD VELVET.

GOLDEN KID, when continuing to travel keenly, improved into running which was not available between CHIU CHOW KID and GOLD VELVET near the 850 Metres, resulting in the horse again having to be steadied away from the heels of GOLD VELVET for a short distance.

Passing the 600 Metres, GOLDEN KID was shifted out away from the heels of GOLD VELVET and then raced tight inside SKY GEM when awkwardly placed close to the heels of LITTLE GENERAL.

This resulted in GOLDEN KID and SKY GEM bumping near the 500 Metres.

Passing the 400 Metres, GOLD VELVET was crowded for room between CHIU CHOW KID and GOLDEN KID which shifted in away from LITTLE GENERAL after improving into tight running inside that horse.

When improving into tight running between LITTLE GENERAL and SKY GEM passing the 250 Metres, AMAZING AGILITY then raced in restricted room passing the 200 Metres as LITTLE GENERAL shifted out marginally under pressure.

WONDERFUL TIGER hung in under pressure in the Straight and proved difficult to ride.

A Badel (SAVVY SEVEN) was spoken to regarding using his whip forward of the saddle.

T Piccone (LITTLE GENERAL) was again warned against the practice of raising his whip arm above the height of his shoulder.

A veterinary inspection of GOLDEN KID immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, GOLDEN KID will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of SKY GEM and WONDERFUL TIGER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

LITTLE GENERAL, SAVVY SEVEN and SHINEALOT were sent for sampling.
