Recap by phillip woo

Early favourite Kiram comfortably prevailed after taking the short route home to lead 200m out following a box-seat run. He was a Class Three horse in Class Four. Post-time favourite Zhan Jing Rocks closed off furiously after being ridden for luck from a wide gate to snatch second. He's a winner waiting to happen in this class. C P Power produced a big run near the inside but was just denied second straightening two from the back. Dor Dor closed strongly after peeling widest out soon after straightening following a rail run behind midfield to finish on the bottom of a blanket finish for the minors. It was a length back to Management Star, who made a mild bid after copping a bump peeling out for a run midfield following a midfield run on the fence. It wasn't a bad effort in his first start following a leg issue in June. Diamond Legend came up one-paced over the last 150m after taking off 800m out to sit three-deep near the speed at the 500m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (154) - THE LAWASIA CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1650Meters

MANAGEMENT STAR began only fairly.

As the start was effected, SHANGHAI RUSKY lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently began awkwardly.

PRESIDENT STAR shifted out at the start and bumped STARSHIP.

C P POWER shifted in at the start and bumped DOR DOR.

From wide barriers, DOR DOR, C P POWER and ZHAN JIANG ROCKS were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Approaching the 1300 Metres, KIRAM was steadied away from the heels of PRESIDENT STAR (M Chadwick) which shifted in when not fully clear.

M Chadwick was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he provides sufficient clearance when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

FAITHFUL TRINITY travelled wide and without cover until after the 800 Metres at which time it shifted in to race outside the lead.

When FAITHFUL TRINITY shifted in, DIAMOND LEGEND was left racing without cover.

Approaching the Home Turn, ZHAN JIANG ROCKS momentarily raced in restricted room between C P POWER and DOR DOR which shifted in marginally before being directed to the outside of WON WON TOO.

Making the Home Turn, DIAMOND LEGEND lay out.

At the entrance to the Straight, as THUNDER STOMP attempted to shift to the outside of FAITHFUL TRINITY, THUNDER STOMP and DIAMOND LEGEND bumped as DIAMOND LEGEND shifted in slightly.

This resulted in both horses becoming unbalanced.

MANAGEMENT STAR, which was following THUNDER STOMP, was shifted out away from the heels of that horse passing the 300 Metres in consequence.

MANAGEMENT STAR was then shifted out further to the outside of DIAMOND LEGEND to obtain clear running.

Then passing the 200 Metres, MANAGEMENT STAR raced tight inside WON WON TOO which shifted in marginally, resulting in MANAGEMENT STAR being momentarily awkwardly placed behind DIAMOND LEGEND.

After the 300 Metres, ZHAN JIANG ROCKS was shifted out a number of horses to obtain clear running.

After the race, J Moreira was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of THUNDER STOMP.

He said after travelling in a forward position, THUNDER STOMP came under pressure after making contact with DIAMOND LEGEND at the entrance to the Straight and then did not finish off the race as anticipated.

A veterinary inspection of THUNDER STOMP immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of SHANGHAI RUSKY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

KIRAM and ZHAN JIANG ROCKS were sent for sampling.
