Racing Incident Report
Race Eight: (112) - THE ORIENTAL WATCH SHA TIN TROPHY (HANDICAP) - Class G2 - 1600Meters
EAGLE WAY was crowded for room on jumping between RISE HIGH which shifted in initially and SOUTHERN LEGEND which shifted out after being brushed by WAIKUKU.
From a wide barrier, SINGAPORE SLING was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
After the 1400 Metres, BEAUTY GENERATION got its head up and shifted in away abruptly from the heels of GLORIOUS FOREVER after initially racing tight inside SOUTHERN LEGEND.
At this time, GLORIOUS FOREVER commenced to travel keenly when steadied and near the 1350 Metres shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of KA YING STAR which became unbalanced.
WAIKUKU, which was following BEAUTY GENERATION, was steadied away from the heels of that horse passing the 1300 Metres and shifted in and momentarily inconvenienced INSAYSHABLE.
After this, GLORIOUS FOREVER continued to travel keenly when racing outside the lead.
Approaching the 1200 Metres, EAGLE WAY was awkwardly placed behind NOTHINGILIKEMORE.
Approaching the 600 Metres, SOUTHERN LEGEND was taken wider by BEAUTY GENERATION which shifted to the outside of GLORIOUS FOREVER.
When questioned regarding the performance of BEAUTY GENERATION, Z Purton stated that when KA YING STAR and GLORIOUS FOREVER took up leading positions in the early stages, BEAUTY GENERATION was required to take a trailing position.
He said after being awkwardly placed behind GLORIOUS FOREVER near the 1400 Metres, BEAUTY GENERATION travelled comfortably behind the leader KA YING STAR.
He said near the 600 Metres he shifted BEAUTY GENERATION out from behind GLORIOUS FOREVER to commence improving into the race as BEAUTY GENERATION performs best when able to gather momentum.
He said at the entrance to the Straight he became concerned with the manner in which BEAUTY GENERATION was going to finish off the race as the horse came under heavy pressure earlier than he would have expected.
He added BEAUTY GENERATION did not quicken today as it had previously and because of this he had to ride the horse along aggressively prior to the 300 Metres.
He said BEAUTY GENERATION then finished off the race only fairly and, in his opinion, was disappointing.
A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY GENERATION immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

BEAUTY GENERATION, RISE HIGH and WAIKUKU were sent for sampling.

Rise High overhauled well-backed Waikuku 50m out from behind midfield for the win. It was a terrific training feat to get him to win first-up and he'll be a force to be reckoned with this season. Waikuku found one better on the day after reeling in champion Beauty Generation for the front 150m out following a one-off run in midfield. Beauty Generation came up one-paced over the final 200m after surging to the front 350m out following a box-seat run. He was giving a pair of smart rivals too much weight. Punted late Ka Ying Star grudgingly gave way after dictating the run. It was another honest performance. Specked late Southern Legend came up flat following a one-out, one-back run. He's still not quite there yet fitness-wise. Eagle Way surged late without menacing down the outside after a patient ride third from the rear. Singapore Sling struggled at the back. He doesn't seem right after leg problems in August.
