Favourite Craig's Star kept finding to hold Alcari after hitting the front 200m out travelling one off in fourth for a deserving second win at his ninth start. Alcari might have gotten up for the win if not held up behind the tiring leader Fantastic Fabio until the 150m railing behind midfield on the fence following a very slow start. Late-fancied Triumphant Horse came on better than midfield to fill a placing. He had flashed ability in five other starts but isn't genuine. Picken stayed on reasonably well after a deep run behind midfield to fill the frame. It was a pleasing first-up effort but he'll need to lift further off his current mark. Gift Of Lifeline made ground late down the outside after travelling one off beyond midfield. It was another honest effort up in grade off a light weight. Circuit Hassler gave way after working a bit too hard to stalk the leader Fantastic Fabio from a wide gate at the 1,050m. A rating bottom isn't too far away for him.

Racing Incident Report

Race Ten: (96) - YEUNG UK HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters

On arrival at the Start, SACRED IBIS was noted to have blood at its right nostril.

Acting on advice from the Veterinary Officer that SACRED IBIS was not suitable to race, that horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.

A subsequent endoscopic examination of SACRED IBIS deemed that horse not to have bled.

Before being allowed to race again, SACRED IBIS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

ALCARI was very slow to begin.

Before being allowed to race again, ALCARI will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.

GUY DRAGON, CRUCIATUS and HOME WIN were all steadied from wide barriers in the early stages to obtain cover.

Approaching the 1100 Metres, GUY DRAGON commenced to travel keenly and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GIFT OF LIFELINE.

Near the 750 Metres, GUY DRAGON again commenced to travel very keenly and was checked away from the heels of ALCARI.

After the 700 Metres, FLYING VICTORY got its head on the side and lay out when travelling close to the heels of CRAIG'S STAR.

ALCARI had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.

In the Straight, FLYING VICTORY lay out and passing the 150 Metres was steadied and shifted to the outside of PICKEN (U Rispoli) when crowded for room between that horse which shifted in marginally and TRIUMPHANT HORSE.

U Rispoli was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

For the majority of the Home Straight, GUY DRAGON was unable to obtain clear running and consequently was not able to be properly tested.

For the majority of the race, PICKEN travelled wide and without cover.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that CRUCIATUS was a "roarer??which had previously been reported.

CRAIG'S STAR and ALCARI were sent for sampling.

After the running of Race 1, the track classification for the turf course was officially changed from "Good??to "Good to Firm?? This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective.

As a consequence of this, the official results will show Race 1 being run on a track rated "Good to Firm??

Adjourned Inquiry - 9 October 2019 Happy Valley Racemeeting - Race 8 (85) The Stewards today inquired into an incident after passing the 600 Metres where GRATWICK lost its position and MR PICASSO, which was racing to its inside, was hampered when momentarily tightened for room.

Evidence was taken from M F Poon (MR PICASSO), M Chadwick (GRATWICK) and N Callan (FIRST RESPONDER).

After taking evidence from all parties concerned and after viewing the videos, it was established that GRATWICK, which in the evidence of M Chadwick was inclined to lay in at various stages of the race, shifted in slightly away from FIRST RESPONDER at the 600 Metres and made contact with MR PICASSO.

It was further established that after racing tight with MR PICASSO for several strides, GRATWICK and MR PICASSO were briefly tightened due to FIRST RESPONDER shifting in slightly.

N Callan was advised that due to the initial contact between GRATWICK and MR PICASSO, it was evident that he was not fully responsible for the incident, however, he was severely reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in marginally after passing the 600 Metres, resulting in momentary crowding to MR PICASSO and GRATWICK.

Addition to Racing Incidents Report of 9 October 2019 Happy Valley Racemeeting - Race 8 (85) Whilst the Stewards formed the view that H W Lai (FARSHAD) did not correct his mount in a timely manner when he did straighten FARSHAD so as not to continue causing interference to YOO YOO KING, he was required to stop riding FARSHAD and because of this FARSHAD was not ridden out over the concluding stages.

Additional Veterinary Reports from Happy Valley Racemeeting on 9 October 2019 Subsequent official veterinary inspections (without endoscopy) of GOUTEN OF GARO, STARLOT, NASHASHUK, FLAME LILY, SPEEDY WALLY, HARDLY SWEARS, TRAVEL DATUK, AURORA PEGASUS, THE ABRAXAS, FLASH FAMOUS, SHINING ON, ALL WONGCHOY, PRECIOUS SWEETIE, HAPPY DRAGON, DANCES WITH DRAGON, BALLISTIC KING, NORDIC WARRIOR, SNAP FIT and SPECIAL STARS revealed no apparent abnormality.

Racing Laboratory tests of E STAR, EIGHT TRIGRAMS, SUPER WINNER, QUADRUPLE DOUBLE, WOOD ON FIRE, FULL OF BEAUTY, JOLLY BANNER, SMART PATCH, CALIFORNIA LEGEND, EZRA, DESTIN, I DO, HAPPY SEBRING, SICHUAN DAR, BEAUTY GENERATION, KA YING STAR, MR CROISSANT, JUMBO PRIZE, SUPER STAR, INVINCIBLE MISSILE, AETHERO, FAT TURTLE and CALIFORNIA WHIP (1.10.19) proved negative.
