Recap by phillip woo
King Opie got up near the 100m for the win after sitting third in a sit-and-sprint contest. He had the benefit of a run and suited by the step up in distance. Well-backed Beauty Spirit grudging gave way after getting a soft time in front. He's honest but isn't a prolific winner. Star Performance ran on well to finish a close third following a one-off run in midfield. It was a solid run stepping up in grade off a light weight at only his second start and he remains one to follow. Favourite Harmony Victory finished well down the outside but cost himself after jumping poorly. He requires a faster pace and the 1,800m might suit him better. Joyful Trinity wasn't beaten too far in the end after rushing forward to sit second at the 1,200m. It wasn't a bad effort in his first run in 279-days. Mongolian King beat a few from the rear of the field. He wasn't suited by the race tempo.
