Recap by phillip woo
Late-fancied California Legend found another gear in the drive to comfortably get the win after getting his own way in front leading from the over-racing Indigenous Star 1,300m out. He got all favours but appeared to be heading in the right direction following a positive run on closing day. Favourite Such A Happiness closed all right to grab second 200m out after settling worse than midfield on the fence following a sluggish start. Sunny Power kept grinding away following a box-seat run to just take third. He's an honest miler but seems most effective on a wet track. New Elegance was getting going late following a one-out, one-back run to snatch fourth on the wire. Indigenous Star grudgingly gave way after travelling keenly in second. It wasn't a bad effort with a return to Class Four. Speedy Wally got going late without menacing after a patient ride second from the back. He tends to find things harder in this grade nowadays.
