Early favourite Adonis quickened brilliantly one from the right after a patient ride fifth from the back to win going away 80m out to give legendary rider Douglas Whyte an opening day win as a trainer. Punted late Kwai Chung Elite closed well widest out after sitting third last to just edge Golden Cannon for second. The pace played into his hands but he relished the opposition dropping in class. Golden Cannon surged late to make it close for second. He's always a chance in this grade. Post-time favourite Leisured Feet was on his tippy toes 100m out after assuming the lead at the 250m stalking Blade Racer from a wide gate. It was a pleasing effort in a race run to suit the backmarkers and he's likely approaching a bottom. Never Better kept running into traffic after turning the final bend last. He should have finished closer and is crying out for 1,400m. Blade Racer couldn't keep things going over the final 150m after setting a genuine pace in front.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (2) - MOUNT PARKER HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters

RICHCITY FORTUNE began awkwardly and then for some distance after the start was ridden along to obtain a forward position.

LEISURED FEET began awkwardly and shifted in, resulting in SKY GEM being crowded for room.

GOLDEN CANNON began only fairly and then shortly after the start was shifted across behind runners.

From wide barriers, ADONIS, KWAI CHUNG ELITE and NEVER BETTER were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Passing the 1000 Metres, MAJESTIC ENDEAVOUR was eased away from the heels of HARBOUR CENTURY which shifted in when awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAPPY COOPERATION.

After the 900 Metres, HAPPY COOPERATION was left racing wide and without cover.

Making the first turn after the 900 Metres, HARBOUR CENTURY got its head on the side and raced tight between HAPPY COOPERATION and MY DEAR which also shifted out.

When HARBOUR CENTURY shifted out, GOUTEN OF GARO was awkwardly placed outside the heels of that horse for a number of strides.

Passing the 400 Metres, GOLDEN CANNON was directed to the outside of NEVER BETTER after being held up for clear running behind that horse rounding the Home Turn.

NEVER BETTER was held up for clear running from approaching the 300 Metres until near the 200 Metres.

Approaching the 100 Metres, HAPPY COOPERATION was bumped when crowded for room inside NEVER BETTER which, after improving into tight running inside GOUTEN OF GARO (N Callan), was taken in by that horse which shifted in under pressure.

N Callan was severely reprimanded and told that in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount sooner than he did on this occasion.

When HAPPY COOPERATION was bumped, RICHCITY FORTUNE and HARBOUR CENTURY, which were racing inside that horse, were inconvenienced.

Over the last 100 Metres, CURLING LUXURY was awkwardly placed behind LEISURED FEET and consequently was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race.

Passing the 50 Metres, GOUTEN OF GARO was steadied away from the heels of GOLDEN CANNON (C Y Ho) which shifted in.

C Y Ho was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he makes immediate endeavours to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances.

A veterinary inspection of HARBOUR CENTURY, MAJESTIC ENDEAVOUR and RICHCITY FORTUNE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

LEISURED FEET, ADONIS and KWAI CHUNG ELITE were sent for sampling.
