Recap by phillip woo
Firming second choice Beat The Clock ran down Rattan 20m out following a perfect oneout, one-back run. He's a top sprinter and got a race run to suit. Rattan wouldn't go down without a fight as the surprise leader. He's versatile but has transformed himself as a quality sprinter in his past two starts. Little Giant kept on well after a box-seat run. He rarely produces a bad run over this trip. Favourite Santa Ana Lane ran on without ever looking a major threat down the outside from the rear of the field. The Australian challenger requires a faster pace. Pingwu Spark kept grinding away following a midfield run. It wasn't a bad run but he's not good enough at this level of competition. Japan's Nac Venus was stopping 100m out after pushing forward to track the leader at the 850m.
