Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Simply Big won comfortably after leading from gate two. He had tipped his hat last start on the turf at his second run in the grade but will need to lift on his past form in Class Three. Punted late Silver Fig closed nicely down the outside to take second in deep stretch after going back from a wide gate. It was a solid run after a lengthy-injury induced absence. Tom's Dragon had to settle for third after moving into the Quinella spot at the 200m sitting one-off better than midfield. He's racing consistently well on either surface and a win is around the corner. Borntoachieve was giving ground 150m out after rushing forward to sit second at the 900m. He prefers a fast track. Specked late Fortune Happiness made some ground near the inside without menacing following a midfield run. It was a better effort second-up but he's likely to need more experience.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (484) - KALANCHOE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

MONEYMORE was withdrawn on 9.3.19 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter EVER STRONG (N Callan).

Before being allowed to race again, MONEYMORE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

MASSIVE MILLENNIUM (G van Niekerk) began awkwardly and on jumping G van Niekerk momentarily took his left hand away from the rein and reached out towards the barrier partition.

G van Niekerk was told that this was the second occasion that the Stewards had spoken to him about taking his hand away from the reins on jumping and he must desist from this practice.

EVER STRONG shifted out at the start and inconvenienced SILVER FIG.

Then from the outside barrier, SILVER FIG was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

FLYING GODSPELL shifted out at the start and bumped SUNNY MAJOR which in turn shifted out and inconvenienced FORTUNE HAPPINESS.

Approaching the first turn near the 700 Metres, SUNNY MAJOR and DATING raced tight.

DATING then became unbalanced passing the 700 Metres and shifted out, resulting in SUNNY MAJOR being crowded for room inside ALL YOU NEED which was racing tight inside STAR SUPERIOR.

MASSIVE MILLENNIUM, which was following, was inconvenienced in consequence.

MASSIVE MILLENNIUM got its head up when making the turn near the 700 Metres awkwardly.

Passing the 600 Metres, MASSIVE MILLENNIUM again got its head up when racing tight between SILVER FIG and SUNNY MAJOR which shifted out.

ALL YOU NEED was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight.

Throughout the race, EVER STRONG travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of FLYING GODSPELL and EVER STRONG immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SIMPLY BIG and SILVER FIG were sent for sampling.
