Racing Incident Report
Race Three: (454) - MUT WAH HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Meters
MY DEAR was withdrawn on 26.2.19 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter POWER RACER (C Y Ho).
Before being allowed to race again, MY DEAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
AFTER ME began only fairly.
Shortly after the start, ORIENTAL ELITE was crowded for room between GENERAL IRON which shifted in when being steadied to obtain cover and TOM'S DRAGON which shifted out marginally.
Then near the 900 Metres, ORIENTAL ELITE was shifted away from the heels of GENERAL IRON.
POWER RACER was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
AFTER ME lost its left hind plate at the 850 Metres.
Approaching the 250 Metres, GENERAL IRON and BESTA LUCK raced tight as GENERAL IRON improved into tight running between that horse and TOM'S DRAGON.
After the 150 Metres, VERY SWEET ORANGE was shifted to the inside of MR RIGHT (Apprentice H T Mo) after racing tight outside that horse which shifted out passing the 200 Metres.
Apprentice Mo was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he stops riding and straightens his mounts in similar circumstances.
After the 100 Metres, ORIENTAL ELITE was shifted to the outside of BESTA LUCK to continue improving.
MR RIGHT and TOM'S DRAGON were sent for sampling.

In a return to form, Mr Right made use of a good gate in front to just hold favourite Tom's Dragon with some late-market support for a seventh career success over this Valley trip. He had things go his way and it wasn't a strong Class Four. Tom's Dragon nearly lost second late after hitting a flat spot 50m out following a box-seat run. He had his chance and possibly the 1,200m will suit him better. Old-timer General Iron surged late to make it a blanket finish on the wire following a ground saving run in midfield. He can bob up now and then with a positive performance. Surprise second favourite Very Sweet Orange had his chance tracking the leader but came up flat over the last 50m. Wait for him to get into Class Five. Super Fun made some ground without menacing from behind midfield. He needs a longer trip. Thou Shall Sing stuck on all right after settling deep in midfield from the widest gate. The draw is crucial for him and he's clearly better going forward.
