Recap by phillip woo

Circuit Glory zipped along in front under a light weight and just held off Litterateur for a second win over this Valley trip this term. He's racing well and should remain competitive in the grade. Litterateur finished boldly after a one-off run behind midfield to cut the margin to a neck in the end. He doesn't know how to run a bad race over this course. Citron Spirit peaked on his run 50m out after looming a winning chance approaching the 100m settling midfield on the fence following a sluggish break. Specked late Super Chic finished well from near the back to snatch fourth. He's pretty honest over this Valley trip. Plunged late Turin Redstar lost fourth prize money after a tough run without cover the entire trip in midfield from a wide alley. He'll be a force to be reckoned with when he draws a gate. Rise High lost some momentum after being balked for a run early straight travelling one-out, one-back and came up one-paced inside the final 100m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (421) - SHAN KWONG HANDICAP - Class 1 - 1650Meters

CITRON SPIRIT bumped the outside gate of its stall on jumping, then shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of SUPER CHIC.

After this, both CITRON SPIRIT and SUPER CHIC were shifted across behind runners.

RISE HIGH shifted out at the start and bumped PACKING DRAGON.

Then despite being ridden along for a considerable distance in the early stages, PACKING DRAGON failed to muster speed and approaching the winning post on the first occasion was shifted across behind runners.

Passing the 300 Metres, RISE HIGH momentarily raced tight between FORTUNE BOOTH and INSAYSHABLE (J Moreira) which shifted in before being directed back out to relieve the tightening to RISE HIGH.

J Moreira was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

SUPER CHIC had difficulty obtaining clear running until passing the 100 Metres.

Close to the finishing line, RISE HIGH raced tight inside TURIN REDSTAR which got its head on the side and lay in under pressure.

When questioned, K C Leung (TURIN REDSTAR) stated that he was asked to obtain a position in about midfield or forward of midfield from the outside barrier if possible.

He said TURIN REDSTAR began very well and jumped in front of INSAYSHABLE which was in the barrier immediately to the inside of TURIN REDSTAR.

He said as he felt that TURIN REDSTAR may be able to show more speed than INSAYSHABLE, he rode his mount along in the early stages to clear that horse, however, INSAYSHABLE was vigorously ridden to improve its position inside TURIN REDSTAR.

He said he believed he would have had to make considerable use of his mount to clear INSAYSHABLE which would have resulted in TURIN REDSTAR racing in a more forward position than he was instructed.

He said at about the 1500 Metres he observed a gap behind LITTERATEUR, so he steadied his mount in an endeavour to take that position.

He added after passing the winning post on the first occasion he commenced to shift in to obtain the position behind LITTERATEUR, however, at this time HORSE OF FORTUNE improved to be racing inside TURIN REDSTAR and he was unable to shift across any further which resulted in TURIN REDSTAR being left racing wide and without cover from the 1200 Metres.

A veterinary inspection of INSAYSHABLE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

RISE HIGH, CIRCUIT GLORY and LITTERATEUR were sent for sampling.
