Recap by phillip woo

Beat The Clock just held off the always game Mr Stunning after hitting the front 150m out following a box-seat run. It was a deserving first win at the top level following numerous solid efforts. Favourite Mr Stunning eventually got going following a one-out, oneback run to make it close on the wire. It was another solid performance following a second HK Sprint win. Winner's Way came from last and widest out at the 400m to finish a distant third. It was a good effort but he's just a shade below the top sprinters. Fifty Fifty was just out-finished travelling second from the rear for third. He might be best suited over the 1,400m. Little Giant gave way 100m out after a surprise role in front. The tactics change backfired. D B Pin was stopping 150m out after rolling forward to park outside the leader at the 900m. He had an off day. Three-year-old Styling City never menaced travelling one-off in fifth. He wasn't ready to tackle the big boys at this point.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (352) - THE CENTENARY SPRINT CUP - Class G1 - 1200Meters

FIFTY FIFTY and LITTLE GIANT bumped at the start.

From the outside barrier, WINNER'S WAY was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Passing the 300 Metres, BEAT THE CLOCK raced in restricted room between LITTLE GIANT and D B PIN which shifted in.

As BEAT THE CLOCK maintained its position, D B PIN became unbalanced and shifted out after making contact with BEAT THE CLOCK.

D B PIN then shifted out under pressure approaching the 200 Metres.

When questioned, S Clipperton stated that he was able to obtain a forward position on D B PIN in the early stages and the horse travelled well.

He said however that he became concerned with the manner in which it was going to finish off the race near the 500 Metres when he asked the horse to improve and it did not quicken as he anticipated.

He said D B PIN came under pressure in the early part of the Straight and then did not finish off the race in the Straight as it had in the past.

He added he was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of the horse as D B PIN appeared to pull up well after the race.

A veterinary inspection of D B PIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of STYLING CITY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

BEAT THE CLOCK and MR STUNNING were sent for sampling.
