Racing Incident Report
Race Five: (334) - THE PO LEUNG KUK 140TH ANNIVERSARY CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1400Meters
BINGO HERO was slow to begin.
DRAGON REGIMENT shifted in at the start and inconvenienced YEE CHEONG LUCKY.
FOX CHEUNGER and BEAUTY ENERGY bumped at the start.
FOX CHEUNGER then shifted in and inconvenienced ABSOLUCOOL.
From wide barriers, BLIZZING AWAY and BEAUTY ENERGY were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
When being steadied to obtain cover near the 1200 Metres, DRAGON REGIMENT got its head up on a number of occasions and proved difficult to settle.
Then passing the 1200 Metres, DRAGON REGIMENT shifted out and bumped COMPASSION STAR.
After the 1100 Metres, FOX CHEUNGER was left racing wide and without cover.
Approaching the 600 Metres, BEAUTY ENERGY was awkwardly placed behind ABSOLUCOOL.
Passing the 500 Metres, ABSOLUCOOL got its head on the side and shifted out abruptly away from the heels of JOYFUL FAMILY.
Passing the 400 Metres, BEAUTY ENERGY was shifted to the inside of CHAIRMAN LO which shifted out and brushed JOYFUL FAMILY.
Near the 250 Metres, BEAUTY ENERGY was shifted to the inside of COMPASSION STAR after being disappointed for running between that horse and CHAIRMAN LO.
M F Poon (BEAUTY ENERGY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching and passing the 200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of BINGO HERO, resulting in that horse being taken in across the rightful running of GOOD RUNNERS WAY which was severely checked and in turn taken in onto DRAGON REGIMENT which was also checked.
M F Poon was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 27 January 2019 and to expire on Thursday, 31 January 2019 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
In addition, M F Poon was fined $17,500.
Near the 150 Metres, BEAUTY ENERGY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of QUADRUPLE DOUBLE when momentarily held up for clear running behind that horse.
BEAUTY ENERGY was then shifted to the inside of QUADRUPLE DOUBLE near the 100 Metres to improve.
HINYUEN SWIFTNESS and CHAIRMAN LO were sent for sampling.

Hinyuen Swiftness kept on gamely after reclaiming the front from Quadruple Double at the 900m to land a betting plunge. He's honest but doesn't execute as well carrying weights above 120 pounds which may affect him in upcoming starts. Short-priced favourite Chairman Lo made a steady bid from midfield to finish a clear-cut second. He's caught the eye in defeat in both starts and remains one to follow. Beauty Energy produced a nice ducking-and-weaving run near the inside to grab a placing close to home. He does appear from his past two starts to have turned the corner and it'll pay to keep him safe next time out. Absolucool peaked on his move from behind midfield at the 100m. He has some ability but is taking his time coming around. Quadruple Double faded 150m out after handing up to settling one-off in second at the 900m. It wasn't his day but his speed is an asset and he can get away with a race in due time.
