Race Four: (257) - LUKFOOK JEWELLERY HUGGING FAMILY COLLECTION HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1600Meters
FRIENDS OF NANJING was withdrawn on 14.12.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore).
Before being allowed to race again, FRIENDS OF NANJING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
CHATER THUNDER was withdrawn on 15.12.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (fever).
Before being allowed to race again, CHATER THUNDER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
SMART ROCKET and MANAGEMENT STAR were slow to begin.
GOLDEN FOUR began very awkwardly, resulting in its rider, K Teetan, becoming badly unbalanced.
Near the 1300 Metres, HEROIC GURU was awkwardly placed behind SMART ROCKET which was steadied to obtain cover behind SMILING PRIDE.
Approaching the 1000 Metres, SMART ROCKET got its head up when awkwardly placed behind SMILING PRIDE.
Passing the 750 Metres, HEROIC GURU got its head up when awkwardly placed behind MANAGEMENT STAR.
Passing the 500 Metres, MANAGEMENT STAR and LE PANACHE raced tight.
Near the 250 Metres, MANAGEMENT STAR raced tight outside GOLDEN FOUR which shifted out marginally under pressure.
LE PANACHE travelled wide and without cover throughout the race.
PO CHING TREASURE and SMILING PRIDE were sent for sampling.

Po Ching Treasure was aggressively ridden to lead at a moderate pace and never looked back for a second win this season. It was a terrific ride by Zac Purton in the right sort of race. Favourite Smiling Pride finished nicely down the outside after being ridden throughout to stay in touch third from the rear. It was a good effort in an unsuitably run race and he remains one to keep safe next time out. Well-backed late Le Panache stayed on well for third after covering ground in midfield. He's racing consistently well and has the tools to add to an earlier win. Management Star kept on all right following a midfield run on the fence. It was an encouraging effort despite a return to Class Four. Golden Four was given every chance settling one-out, one-back from the widest gate.
