Recap by phillip woo
Glorious Forever had the field well spread out and never looked back after jumping alertly to lead through even fractions from gate one to succeed at the highest level here. He'll remain a force to be reckoned with over the 1,800m and higher. Japan's Deirdre came on strongly travelling a distant fifth from the rear to overhaul Time Warp for second as the late-fancied favourite. Time Warp grudgingly gave way after deciding to take the sit instead of taking on Glorious Forever the lead from a tricky gate. The difference in the end was the draw. Early favourite Sungrazer came up one-paced settling fourth in the run. It just wasn't a day for the internationals. Northern Superstar wasn't beaten far in the end after looking a fleeting chance of placing making his run behind Time Warp. He lost nothing in defeat and is still in an acclimatization mode. Gold Mount ran on without ever looking a chance from near last. He requires a longer trip.
