Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Multimax fought back after being pestered and headed by Happy Out There in a tussle up front to notch a second Valley win in Class Five this term. Avellino came home nicely to finish a close second after switching off heels 100m out following a patient ride third from the rear along the fence. His new trainer Caspar Fownes will be saluting with him shortly over this trip to a mile if he remains in Class Five. The Show finished very well near the outside after getting shuffled back to travel deep worse than midfield. Keep Going stayed on better following a midfield run on the fence. He might be able to get away with a race in this grade down the line. Ray's Call hit a flat spot 100m out after looming a legitimate chance following a one-off run fore of midfield. He's naturally returning to form this term. Happy Out There did poke his head in front briefly at the 200m pestering the winner before faltering 100m out. It was clearly his best run.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (209) - HAWICK HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters

RUMINARE was withdrawn on 27.11.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter VICTOR EMPEROR (G van Niekerk).

Before being allowed to race again, RUMINARE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

MULTIMAX shifted out at the start and bumped HAPPY OUT THERE.

After being brushed by LIGHTNING MISSILE on jumping, AVELLINO shifted out and bumped VICTOR EMPEROR, causing both horses to become badly unbalanced and lose ground.

Shortly after the start, OUR HONOUR got its head up when being steadied to obtain cover.

From the outside barrier, MANFUL STAR was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Passing the 850 Metres, PADDINGTON was awkwardly placed outside the heels of LIGHTNING MISSILE when being steadied in an attempt to obtain cover behind that horse.

Passing the 400 Metres, OUR HONOUR was awkwardly placed behind RAY'S CALL.

Near the 250 Metres, AVELLINO raced tight inside KEEP GOING.

Passing the 200 Metres, HAPPY OUT THERE shifted in and bumped MULTIMAX.

MANFUL STAR was held up for clear running passing the 150 Metres and when shifted to the outside of RAY'S CALL to obtain clear running inconvenienced IDYLLIC WIND.

AVELLINO had some difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 100 Metres and when shifted to the outside of HAPPY OUT THERE to obtain clear running raced tight inside KEEP GOING.

Passing the winning post, RAY'S CALL, MANFUL STAR and OUR HONOUR were all crowded for room between KEEP GOING (C Schofield) which shifted out away from AVELLINO and THE SHOW (Apprentice H T Mo) which shifted in.

Whilst the majority of this incident occurred after passing the winning post, C Schofield was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances and Apprentice Mo was reprimanded for failing to straighten his mount.

Throughout the race, LIGHTNING MISSILE and PADDINGTON travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of LIGHTNING MISSILE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

MULTIMAX and AVELLINO were sent for sampling.
