Favourite Clement Legend took off from midfield at the 800m to win eased down after hitting the front 350m out for back-to-back wins. He has the tools to win another in the class. Pearl Furu lost ground and momentum chasing when steadied by the winner 550m out after chasing the leader Holy Unicorn and should have finished closer. He's capable but isn't reliable. Holy Unicorn grudgingly gave way after having to work from a wide gate to eventually lead at the 1,650m. It was still a good run in defeat and he seems better suited over the 1,800m. Penzance was rather one-paced following a prominent run on the fence after a sluggish break. He requires a longer trip. Proud Sky only held his travelling better than midfield after being caught deep early on from a tricky gate. The 2,000m is too far. Sweet Bean ran on without menacing from the rear of the field. He's racing in patches this term but can pop up at any moment.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (163) - PANASONIC FRONT LOADING WASHING MACHINE HANDICAP - Class 5 - 2000Meters

PENZANCE began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of TRIUMPH.

In the early stages, ROCK THE TREE and SWEET BEAN were shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.

Passing the 1800 Metres, COME ON WONGCHOY got its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of CLEMENT LEGEND which shifted in marginally, resulting in COME ON WONGCHOY having to be checked away from the heels of CLEMENT LEGEND and losing ground.

Near the 750 Metres, TRIUMPH was awkwardly placed behind PROUD SKY.

K Teetan (CLEMENT LEGEND) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 600 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of PEARL FURU, causing that horse to be unnecessarily crowded for room and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled.

K Teetan was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 28 November 2018 and to expire on Monday, 3 December 2018 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Teetan's good race riding record.

A veterinary inspection of SWEET BEAN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

CLEMENT LEGEND and PEARL FURU were sent for sampling.
