Recap by phillip woo

Giant Turtle led and was never headed. The step back up to his favourite 2,200m with Victor Wong's allowance in play was the right mix. Goldfield overhauled Dynamic Eagle in deep stretch for second after slotting one-out, one-back in the run. He has been a disappointment but the rise in distance was the key. Dynamic Eagle kept on well after overracing in the box seat. He's a winning waiting to happen over the 1,800m and further at the Valley. Brave Legend came from last down the outside to just miss a placing. He can pop up at any moment over a mile and further over this course. Sangria peaked on his move at the 650m from near the back 100m out. He's likely on or near his mark. Rickfield ran on without menacing from the rear of the field. Up to 2,200m carrying a big weight was too much to handle. Favourite Cloud Nine tamely faded after stalking the speed. He's not good enough over this trip at this level.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (120) - HAPPILABABY HANDICAP - Class 3 - 2200Meters

CLOUD NINE and BRAVE LEGEND bumped on jumping.

After this, BRAVE LEGEND was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.

DYNAMIC EAGLE began awkwardly.

RICKFIELD was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.

At the 1800 Metres, CHEERFUL STAR, which was being steadied to obtain a position with cover behind DYNAMIC EAGLE, momentarily raced tight between that horse and GOLDFIELD which shifted in marginally.

From near the 1600 Metres until near the 700 Metres, DYNAMIC EAGLE travelled keenly and had to be continuously steadied away from the heels of GIANT TURTLE.

Near the 950 Metres, CLOUD NINE was bumped by DYNAMIC EAGLE which shifted out when racing keenly.

When questioned regarding the performance of CLOUD NINE, K Teetan stated that CLOUD NINE enjoyed a good run outside the eventual winner GIANT TURTLE for the majority of the race.

He said when SANGRIA improved to the outside of GIANT TURTLE after the 600 Metres, CLOUD NINE did not immediately quicken, however, he expected this as the horse is somewhat one-paced and he anticipated that CLOUD NINE would take some time to gain momentum.

He said after initially maintaining its position between GIANT TURTLE and SANGRIA, CLOUD NINE commenced to give ground rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight and then, despite being fully tested, was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish off the race.

He added CLOUD NINE was particularly disappointing in respect of the manner in which it weakened over the concluding stages of the race.

He said after the race he was not able to find any reason for the disappointing performance of the horse as it appeared to pull up well.

A veterinary inspection of CLOUD NINE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of CLOUD NINE, a favourite for tonight's race, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, CLOUD NINE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

CLOUD NINE, GIANT TURTLE and GOLDFIELD were sent for sampling.
