Racing Incident Report
Race Six: (106) - HYDRANGEA HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Meters
WONDERFUL JOURNEY was withdrawn on 16.10.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (inappetence) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter LUCKY GUY (W M Lai).
Before being allowed to race again, WONDERFUL JOURNEY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
As the start was effected, GENERAL IRON lifted its front feet off the ground and as a consequence lost ground.
MASTER ALBERT began awkwardly, shifted out soon after the start and bumped the hindquarters of SUPER WISE which became unbalanced.
From the outside barrier, LUCKY GUY was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
After travelling a short distance, BULB ELITE got its head on the side and shifted out, inconveniencing MONEY BOY.
MEGA HEART, which was racing to the outside of MONEY BOY, was steadied away from the heels of that horse in consequence.
Approaching the 900 Metres, SUPER WISE was awkwardly placed inside VERY LUCKY which was steadied and shifted in to avoid the heels of HEALTHY LUCK (C Y Ho) which, after initially shifting in of its own accord, shifted in further due to contact on its hindquarters from STORM SIGNAL.
C Y Ho was advised that whilst the contact from STORM SIGNAL had played a part in this incident, nonetheless he should ensure that he provides sufficient clearance to runners on his inside when shifting ground.
C Y Ho was also shown the video of an incident approaching the first turn near the 600 Metres where DEMONS ROCK was steadied away from the heels of HEALTHY LUCK which shifted in when not quite clear.
In this incident, DEMONS ROCK shifted out and hampered DRAGON PIONEER.
The Stewards reinforced the requirement for him to be properly clear when shifting ground.
At the 700 Metres, GENERAL IRON was steadied away from the heels of LUCKY GUY which shifted in when being hard ridden.
At the 600 Metres, SUPER WISE was left racing wide and without cover.
At the 250 Metres, GENERAL IRON raced tight between VERY LUCKY and LUCKY GUY which shifted out away from MEGA HEART which had shifted out before being corrected.
Over the final 100 Metres, LUCKY GUY was awkwardly placed when improving to the inside of MASTER ALBERT.
A veterinary inspection of BULB ELITE immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm.
Before being allowed to race again, BULB ELITE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
BULB ELITE, STORM SIGNAL and MONEY BOY were sent for sampling.

Storm Signal rolled forward to sit outside the leader Healthy Luck from a wide gate, assumed the lead 220m out and drew clear to land a betting move. He had been threatening for some time but it wasn't a strong Class Three. Money Boy came from midfield to grab second. He was fitter for an outing and rarely produces a bad run over the 1,000m at either track. Super Wise kept finding to hold third after a prominent run without cover the entire trip. He's run well in back-to-back runs over this trip but has limited upside off his current mark. Lucky Guy came with a good burst late to nearly place going back from a wide gate. He'll be hard to beat if he can find his way into Class Four. Master Albert closed well to just miss a Quartet spot. He needed the run and is better suited over the 1,200m. Mega Heart ran on nicely racing fourth from the back to just miss a payslip. It was a positive effort following a lengthy-injury induced absence.
