Pakistan Friend got up 200m out for the win stalking the strong pace of Sichuan Boss for a second win from four starts. He was suited by the step up in distance and there's likely a bit more improvement to come. Suited by the pace, Hay Run dashed well from behind midfield to grab second 30m out. He's better suited over a longer trip and can pop up at any moment. Well-backed late Righteous Mate finished strongly down the outside travelling second from the rear to overhaul Sichuan Boss for a placing. He relished the fast pace but isn't far off a bottom. Sichuan Boss worked too hard after finding the front from a wide gate under claimer Victor Wong. Give him another chance with the claimer on top over his preferred Valley 1,650m. Bring It On was only getting warmed up when the race was all but over with his move from near the back. Smart Baby ran on without menacing. Jump on him in Class Five over a mile at the Valley.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (78) - THE CHINESE RECREATION CLUB CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1600Meters

After being slow to begin, GORGEOUS AGAIN was ridden along in the early stages but failed to muster speed and settled back at the field.

From wide barriers, BRING IT ON and HAY RUN, which began awkwardly, were shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover.

When questioned, Apprentice M F Poon stated that he was instructed to ride RIGHTEOUS MATE in a forward position, however, the horse threw its head up as the start was effected, lost some ground and then did not muster speed in the early stages.

He said as a consequence he was obliged to ride the horse conservatively at the rear of the field, however, RIGHTEOUS MATE closed off strongly in the Straight when ridden in this manner.

A veterinary inspection of WINWIN RUBY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

PAKISTAN FRIEND and HAY RUN were sent for sampling.
