Raging favourite Superich defied a tough run beyond midfield to get up in deep stretch for the win. He's made a solid impression in a handful of runs and there's more to come. Fancied late in betting Handsome Bo Bo nearly prevailed after a well-rated run in front from the widest gate. He derived benefit from a run and the move to a claimer nearly paid off. Newcomer Prance Dragon stayed on well for a placing following a prominent run on the fence. He should be a nice sort heading forward up to 1,400m. Specked late, Sumstreetsumwhere closed well from beyond midfield to grab a Quartet spot. He's shown good progress in his two runs this term and likely wants a further trip. Raging Blitzkrieg kept plugging away following a handy run without cover from a wide gate. He's one to keep safe from a good gate. Lightly-raced Diamond Rhyme was short of room at times when trying to wind up from near the back and should have finished closer.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine: (63) - SHANGHAI HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

TAKING AIM began only fairly and shortly after the start raced tight between SUMSTREETSUMWHERE and FEARLESS FIRE which shifted out.

TEAM SPIRIT shifted in at the start and bumped LUCKY GUY which in turn shifted in and bumped SUPERICH, resulting in SUPERICH becoming unbalanced.

From a wide barrier, DIAMOND RHYME was steadied on jumping and shifted across behind runners.

Also from a wide barrier, CHEER WIN was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover in the early stages.

At the 1050 Metres, as LUCKY GUY was being shifted in behind KEY WITNESS, LUCKY GUY struck the heels of that horse which at this time was being steadied to obtain cover.

This resulted in LUCKY GUY blundering.

Passing the 900 Metres, SUMSTREETSUMWHERE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DARING FIT.

Approaching the 800 Metres, RAGING BLITZKRIEG was left racing wide and without cover.

Passing the 800 Metres, DARING FIT got its head on the side and hung out across the heels of RAGING BLITZKRIEG, resulting in DARING FIT being checked and striking the heels of RAGING BLITZKRIEG.

At the same stage, TAKING AIM, which was racing inside DARING FIT, shifted out when being checked away from the heels of PRANCE DRAGON which got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of ATTENTION (C Murray) which, after shifting in when not properly clear, was then steadied by its rider to allow HANDSOME BO BO to cross.

C Murray was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he provides sufficient clearance when crossing other runners and also to ensure that he does not unduly steady the tempo which can result in interference being caused to other runners.

FEARLESS FIRE, which was following TAKING AIM, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of that horse in consequence.

After this, FEARLESS FIRE remained awkwardly placed behind TAKING AIM for some distance.

When DARING FIT was checked, SUPERICH, which was following, was obliged to shift out away from the heels of that horse, resulting in SUPERICH being taken wider.

After this, DARING FIT continued to race with its head on the side and lay out.

Passing the 300 Metres, DIAMOND RHYME, which was commencing to close off the race, was momentarily held up when steadied away from the heels of ATTENTION which was giving ground.

Approaching the 100 Metres, DIAMOND RHYME and FEARLESS FIRE bumped as DIAMOND RHYME attempted to improve between RAGING BLITZKRIEG and FEARLESS FIRE which was awkwardly placed inside the heels of SUMSTREETSUMWHERE which shifted in marginally.

After this, both FEARLESS FIRE and DIAMOND RHYME were unable to obtain clear running and consequently were not able to be properly tested.

Passing the 50 Metres, TEAM SPIRIT and DIAMOND RHYME bumped as a result of both horses shifting ground.

A veterinary inspection of DARING FIT and TEAM SPIRIT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SUPERICH and HANDSOME BO BO were sent for sampling.
