Recap by phillip woo

Post-time favourite Endearing staved off all challengers after being keen to lead from a tricky gate. He was able to build on some consistent form last season and can't be overlooked up in grade off a light weight. Shining On stayed on nicely for second despite getting no luck in the stretch run following a rail run in midfield. He's heading in the right direction and can pop up soon. Flying Quest closed well three from the right to just miss second following a patient ride third from the rear. He's in the right grade but tends to go better at the Valley. Early favourite My Winner had his chance following a prominent run. He's still got youth on his side but is a definite risk at short odds after failing five times to build on a win in April. Bring It On came up flat inside the last 100m after looming a chance with a move from near the back at the 200m. Witness Hunter came up onepaced after a deep run in midfield. He's a good stamp of horse but needs more time.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (23) - FOSHAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

BEST GIFT shifted out at the start and bumped FLYING QUEST.

MUTUAL JOY shifted in on jumping, resulting in BRING IT ON being crowded for room outside WITNESS HUNTER.

Then from the outside barriers, BRING IT ON and MUTUAL JOY were shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.

MY WINNER shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of GOLDEN EFFORT which became unbalanced.

Despite being hard ridden in the early stages, GOLDEN EFFORT was unable to clear MY WINNER approaching and making the first turn near the 900 Metres and was consequently left racing wide and without cover throughout the race and gave ground in the Straight.

Making the first turn near the 900 Metres, BEST GIFT shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of FLYING QUEST which became unbalanced.

After the 900 Metres, WITNESS HUNTER was left racing wide and without cover.

After the 700 Metres, BEST GIFT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SHINING ON.

At the entrance to the Straight, WITNESS HUNTER was shifted out away from the heels of GOLDEN EFFORT.

Then after the 400 Metres, WITNESS HUNTER raced tight between BRING IT ON and GOLDEN EFFORT which shifted out when commencing to give ground.

SHINING ON was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight.

Near the 250 Metres, BEST GIFT was shifted to the outside of SHINING ON after being disappointed for running inside that horse which improved into tight running inside MONEYMORE.

Passing the 200 Metres, SHINING ON and MONEYMORE bumped as a result of both horses shifting a minimal amount of ground, resulting in both horses becoming badly unbalanced.

A veterinary inspection of WITNESS HUNTER and GOLDEN EFFORT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

MY WINNER, ENDEARING and SHINING ON were sent for sampling.
