Winning Supreme nearly made all after leading from a tricky gate. He has the tools to win at this level sprinting on either surface. Flying Force finished willingly down the outside settling second last from a wide gate to just miss a placing. Captain Boss ran on without menacing following a one-off run settling worse than midfield. Favourite Bundle Of Energy was rather one-paced following a one-off run travelling fore of midfield. He likely needed the outing and is bred to get a lot further trip. London Master finished up evenly after having his run taken by the eventual winner at the 200m following a midfield run.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (14) - REPULSE BAY HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

When being loaded into the barriers, FLYING FORCE struck the front gates.

FLYING FORCE was removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

COURT RULER began very awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with the hindquarters of CAPTAIN BOSS which was also bumped by LONDON MASTER which shifted out.

From the outside barriers, MAJESTIC ENDEAVOUR and FLYING FORCE were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 1150 Metres, CAPTAIN BOSS shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of LONDON MASTER.

Near the 850 Metres, FLYING FORCE got its head up on a number of occasions when awkwardly placed behind CAPTAIN BOSS.

At the entrance to the Straight, FLYING FORCE was taken wider by CAPTAIN BOSS which shifted to the outside of BUNDLE OF ENERGY to obtain clear running.

Passing the 200 Metres, UNIVERSAL GO GO was awkwardly placed inside the heels of WINNING SUPREME which shifted in.

Passing the 150 Metres, CAPTAIN BOSS lay in under pressure and was awkwardly placed outside the heels of BUNDLE OF ENERGY.

Close to the finishing line, WINNING SUPREME was checked when crowded for room between UNIVERSAL GO GO which shifted out marginally and LOTUS BREEZE (D Whyte) which shifted in before being corrected by its rider.

D Whyte was advised that whilst the Stewards acknowledged that there had been a contribution from UNIVERSAL GO GO to this incident, nonetheless he was reprimanded and advised that he should have stopped riding and straightened his mount sooner than he did on this occasion.

When questioned regarding his riding of FLYING FORCE in the Straight, G van Niekerk stated that after being taken wider on the turn by CAPTAIN BOSS, he attempted to balance FLYING FORCE up before placing his mount under full pressure.

He said at this time his whip was caught under the breast plate carried by FLYING FORCE which placed him at a disadvantage in being able to fully test the horse in the early part of the Straight.

He said nonetheless he rode his mount along hands and heels and FLYING FORCE commenced to finish off the race strongly.

He said it was not until after the 100 Metres that he was able to extricate his whip from underneath the breast plate and given that it was over the concluding stages of the race and FLYING FORCE was continuing to finish off the race strongly, he did not use the whip on the horse, rather he continued to ride it out hands and heels.

Whilst the Stewards accepted that his whip being caught under the breast plate, which was verified on the video, had impacted upon his ability to fully test FLYING FORCE in the early part of the Straight, nonetheless he was reminded of his obligation to ensure that he does not leave his mounts with too much to do and properly test them at the earliest opportunity.

A veterinary inspection of LONDON MASTER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

BUNDLE OF ENERGY, UNIVERSAL GO GO and LOTUS BREEZE were sent for sampling.
