Well backed late, California Whip kept finding after assuming the lead from Magic Legend 250m out stalking the speed to notch a third win from his past five following a move to blinkers. The handicap conditions worked in his favour. Plunged late, Born In China came on strongly from behind midfield to get up in the shadows of the post for second. He continues to race well after winning at the Valley in February. Lucky Bubbles kept grinding away following a prominent run to just miss the Quinella spot carrying a big weight. It was an encouraging effort with a step up in trip with the tongue-tie on. Favourite Thewizardofoz just failed to get up for a placing following a midfield run. He's overrated and requires relief in the handicaps. Winner's Way ran on without menacing settling one from the back. The rise in weight for a last-start win was too much to overcome.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (748) - THE PREMIER CUP (HANDICAP) - Class G3 - 1400Meters

JOYFUL TRINITY began only fairly.

Passing the 1200 Metres, THEWIZARDOFOZ was checked when crowded for room inside LUCKY BUBBLES which improved quickly to be racing to the inside of DUNDONNELL (C Schofield) as that horse was being steadied in an attempt to obtain cover behind CALIFORNIA WHIP.

As the Stewards were of the view that LUCKY BUBBLES had made ground quickly inside DUNDONNELL and that C Schofield had made a satisfactory attempt to direct DUNDONNELL out after he became aware of LUCKY BUBBLES improving its position to his inside, no further action was taken, however, C Schofield was advised to exercise due care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

For some distance after the 1000 Metres, DUNDONNELL was awkwardly placed behind CALIFORNIA WHIP when travelling keenly.

After the 700 Metres, DUNDONNELL got its head on the side and lay out and then in the Straight gave ground.

A veterinary inspection of DUNDONNELL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Over the concluding stages, LUCKY BUBBLES and THEWIZARDOFOZ raced tight.

THEWIZARDOFOZ, CALIFORNIA WHIP and BORN IN CHINA were sent for sampling.
