Racing Incident Report
Race Three: (734) - TUEN MUN PUBLIC RIDING SCHOOL HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
VICTORIOUS LEADER was withdrawn on 15.6.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (coughing after track work) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter LUCKY COIN (T H So).
Before being allowed to race again, VICTORIOUS LEADER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
LUCKY COIN began awkwardly and shifted out, resulting in CHACHAUP being crowded for room inside FOREVER KINDNESS.
SHANGHAI DRAGON was slow to begin.
MY WINNER shifted out at the start and bumped VICTORY MACHINE.
VICTORY MACHINE was then crowded for room between MY WINNER and SUPER EURO STAR which shifted in.
After this, VICTORY MACHINE was ridden along, however, failed to muster speed.
Shortly after the start, CHACHAUP shifted in and bumped LUCKY COIN.
From the outside barrier, VICTORY MARCH was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching the 800 Metres, FOREVER KINDNESS, which had been ridden along for some distance, got its head up when being checked away from the heels of BURST AWAY which was awkwardly placed close to the heels of TEAM SPIRIT (J Moreira) which, after crossing to the lead, eased the tempo.
LUCKY COIN, which was following FOREVER KINDNESS and travelling keenly, was steadied away from the heels of that horse for some distance in consequence.
J Moreira was warned against the practice of easing the tempo too abruptly in races.
For some distance after the 800 Metres, MY WINNER got its head up when being checked away from the heels of SUPER EURO STAR.
After the 800 Metres, VICTORY MACHINE was awkwardly placed behind MY WINNER and shifted out away from behind that horse, resulting in VICTORY MACHINE travelling wide and without cover.
After the 700 Metres, REGENCY DARLING got its head on the side and lay out.
Approaching and passing the 400 Metres, IMPECCABLE FELLOW was awkwardly placed behind REGENCY DARLING after being disappointed for running between that horse and SUPER EURO STAR.
IMPECCABLE FELLOW was then shifted to the inside of REGENCY DARLING passing the 300 Metres to obtain clear running.
Throughout the race, SUPER EURO STAR travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on SHANGHAI DRAGON at the request of Trainer T P Yung.
The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, SHANGHAI DRAGON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of MY WINNER and SUPER EURO STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
TEAM SPIRIT and BURST AWAY were sent for sampling.

Odds-on favourite Team Spirit never looked back after finding the front from a middle gate. He's done little wrong in three career runs and will remain competitive off a light weight in Class Three. Backed late, Burst Away stayed on well following a prominent run on the fence to finish a distant second. He had all favours but it was an improved effort second start in the grade. Plunged late, Impeccable Fellow was held up until switching inside at the 150m to finish a clear third following a handy run one off the fence. Regency Darling grudgingly gave way after parking outside the leader in the run. He's near a bottom. Forever Kindness made some ground travelling worse than midfield on the fence. It was clearly his bet run to date with the blinkers removed. Victory Machine made some ground without menacing after a very deep run behind midfield from a wide gate. He's in the right grade and needs to be kept safe when drawing a gate.
