Recap by phillip woo

Well-backed late, Kiram won a thrilling battle with Go Go Win after taking off at the 600m following a midfield run to poke his head in front at the 350m. He had been knocking on the door all season long and was given a terrific ride by Douglas Whyte. Go Go Win wouldn't go away without a fight after rushing forward to lead from a wide gate. He's always a chance in this grade. Fancied late in betting, Victory Follow Me stayed on nicely following a box-seat run carrying a light weight to fill a placing. He had all the favours. Starlit Knight came on well following a midfield run on the fence to fill a Quartet spot. He appears to have gained some confidence following a brief but successful stint in Class Five. Photon Willie ran on without menacing from beyond midfield. He's in the right grade but prefers a faster ground. Favourite Heroic Guru left things much too late travelling last at one point following a sluggish break. He's capable but untrustworthy.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (725) - MOUNT NICHOLSON HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters

ALL YOU KNOW was withdrawn on 12.6.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore foot) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter KIRAM (D Whyte).

Before being allowed to race again, ALL YOU KNOW will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

HONEST HORSE and WAH MAY BABY bumped at the start.

TRAVEL AMBASSADOR began awkwardly and lost ground.

HEROIC GURU lost ground when crowded for room on jumping between KIRAM and PHOTON WILLIE which shifted out.

In this incident, KIRAM became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by HEROIC GURU.

Despite being vigorously ridden in the early stages, GLORY STAR failed to muster speed and from the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners approaching the winning post on the first occasion.

Passing the winning post on the first occasion, STARLIT KNIGHT raced tight inside VICTORY FOLLOW ME which got its head on the side and lay in despite the efforts of its rider.

Approaching the 1200 Metres, STARLIT KNIGHT got its head up when awkwardly placed behind VICTORY FOLLOW ME.

PHOTON WILLIE, which was following, shifted out away from the heels of STARLIT KNIGHT, resulting in RAY'S CALL being taken wider.

After this, PHOTON WILLIE proved difficult to settle and had to be steadied away from the heels of KIRAM approaching the 1100 Metres.

In the early stages, SPINNING DANCER was left racing wide and without cover and passing the 1100 Metres was allowed to improve its position to race outside the lead near the 900 Metres.

Near the 1050 Metres, RAY'S CALL and PHOTON WILLIE raced tight as RAY'S CALL shifted in to race with cover behind KIRAM.

Passing the 500 Metres, HEROIC GURU got its head on the side and lay out.

As HONEST HORSE and HEROIC GURU attempted to improve between TRAVEL AMBASSADOR and RAY'S CALL where there was insufficient room for two horses rounding the Home Turn, HONEST HORSE was steadied when unable to proceed between TRAVEL AMBASSADOR and HEROIC GURU.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that HONEST HORSE was displaying signs of "thumps?? A veterinary inspection of HEROIC GURU and WAH MAY BABY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of RAY'S CALL immediately following the race found that horse to be displaying a continuously entrapped epiglottis with an associated ulceration.

HEROIC GURU, KIRAM and GO GO WIN were sent for sampling.
