Racing Incident Report
Race Two: (696) - HKU FACULTIES OF BUSINESS & ECONOMICS AND SCIENCE HANDICAP - Class 5 - 2000Meters
JOY PLUS FUN shifted out at the start and bumped heavily with THE JOY OF GIVING.
SPORTS MASTER was slow to begin and then, after travelling wide and without cover until passing the 900 Metres, gave ground in the Straight.
The performances of SPORTS MASTER, GENERAL O'REILLY and GLENEALY PRIZE, all of which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, SPORTS MASTER, GENERAL O'REILLY and GLENEALY PRIZE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
GLENEALY PRIZE was crowded for room shortly after the start between GENERAL O'REILLY and HALL OF FAME which shifted in.
Despite being ridden along in the early stages, FORTUNE GIGGLES failed to muster speed.
A veterinary inspection of FORTUNE GIGGLES immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm.
Before being allowed to race again, FORTUNE GIGGLES will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
From a wide barrier, PROUD SKY was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, HALL OF FAME got its head on the side, shifted in and bumped THE JOY OF GIVING.
THE JOY OF GIVING consequently got its head up when proving difficult to settle and being checked away from the heels of GENERAL O'REILLY which also got its head up when being steadied to obtain cover.
Making the turn after the 900 Metres, HALL OF FAME shifted in and bumped GENERAL O'REILLY.
Passing the 400 Metres, SPORTS MASTER, which was commencing to give ground, was momentarily steadied away from the heels of JOY PLUS FUN which shifted out.
SEMPITERNAL, which was following SPORTS MASTER, was shifted out away from the heels of that horse, resulting in HALL OF FAME being inconvenienced.
A veterinary inspection of SEMPITERNAL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
LE PANACHE and SWEET BEAN were sent for sampling.

Fancied to jump favourite Le Panache took advantage of a good gate to sit handy on the fence in a well strung out field, advanced to the lead 200m out and drew clear for an overdue win after placing in three earlier runs this term. Sweet Bean found one better on the day after circling the field to establish a clear lead passing the 1,000m. He's never one to take lightly in this grade. Rock The Tree came on strongly two from the right from near the back to grab a placing 40m out. He's not genuine but certainly has the tools to pop up in this grade. Holy Unicorn came up one-paced travelling box-seat as the race changed complexion mid-race after leading early on from a wide gate. He has been knocking on the door and can pop up at any moment. Proud Sky came on late after travelling at the tail of the field from a wide gate. Early favourite Fortune Giggles was struggling a long way out travelling fifth from the rear. Something probably went amiss with him.
