Recap by phillip woo

Firming favourite Exultant drew clear to win impressively after rushing to the lead approaching the 1,100m following a patient run one from the back. Prawn Baba fought on gamely to just hold second after being popped the question a long way out chasing the leader. Doyeni ran on steadily after straightening one from the back to make it close for second. He can pop up at times but has limited upside off his current mark. Eagle Way was struggling to lift his feet 200m out following a dream run. The big weight and quick back-up following a third in the QE II Cup was the likely culprit. Goldfield had little left in the tank upon straightening after dictating half the race. This was too rich for him. Happilababys had excuses after travelling without cover the entire trip.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (624) - THE QUEEN MOTHER MEMORIAL CUP (HANDICAP) - Class G3 - 2400Meters

On entering the track, the bridle fitted to SAVVY SIX, which was proving difficult to proceed to the Start, pulled loose.

After taking some time for the bridle to be refitted, SAVVY SIX again on entering the track refused to proceed to the Start, resulting in the bridle again becoming loose.

SAVVY SIX then galloped for a short distance without the bridle, resulting in M L Yeung, jumping off the horse without incident.

SAVVY SIX was withdrawn from the race by order of the Stewards.

Mr A S Cruz, trainer of SAVVY SIX, was advised that as this was the second occasion that SAVVY SIX had proved reluctant to proceed to the Start, before being permitted to race again, SAVVY SIX must undergo two consecutive tests prior to a racemeeting commencing in which the horse must proceed from the Parade Ring to a starting position in the Straight without having to be assisted by starting gate handlers or barrier staff.

SAVVY SIX will be permitted to have only the assistance of an outrider.

RICKFIELD shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of EXULTANT which became unbalanced.

For some distance approaching the winning post on the first occasion, EXULTANT travelled keenly when being restrained to obtain cover behind DOYENI.

Near the 1000 Metres, GOLDFIELD got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of EXULTANT.

A veterinary inspection of HAPPILABABY, which was eased down over the final 200 Metres, immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of HAPPILABABY, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, HAPPILABABY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

EXULTANT and PRAWN BABA were sent for sampling.
