Favourite Elite Boy led and drew clear for a commanding first win at his fifth start. He was suited by the track bias for speed but appears to have more to come on this surface. Plunged late Bond Elegance stayed on well to finish a distant second after a deep run in midfield. He's a consistent Class Four performer over the 1,200m on either surface. Grand Harbour kept plugging away chasing the leader one off the fence to just hold down third. He pops up now and then. Superior Boy finished well after travelling fifth from the rear to just miss a placing. He keeps promising on both surfaces without winning but certainly can pop up at any time. Startling Power was only plodding over the last 200m following a deep run without cover on the speed from a wide gate. It wasn't a bad run in defeat but needs to draw closer the fence. Goldie Flanker ran on late down the outside without menacing. He just hasn't been able to turn it up another gear this season.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (525) - JASPER HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

BEST GIFT was slow to begin.

MANAGEMENT STAR began only fairly.

ELITE BOY shifted in at the start and bumped FIRST BEAUT.

ELITE BOY lost its left front plate shortly after the start.

Shortly after the start, FLYING LOVER and GOLDIE FLANKER bumped, resulting in GOLDIE FLANKER shifting out and brushing the hindquarters of STARTLING POWER which was being ridden along to obtain a forward position.

This resulted in STARTLING POWER becoming unbalanced, shifting out and bumping BOND ELEGANCE.

STARTLING POWER subsequently travelled wide and without cover throughout the race From the outside barrier, HAPPY JOURNEY was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Passing the 800 Metres, GOLDIE FLANKER got its head on the side and lay out and consequently raced wide and without cover.

Making the first turn after the 700 Metres, BEST GIFT got its head on the side, hung out and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FLYING LOVER.

SUPERIOR BOY, which was following, was inconvenienced in consequence.

In the Straight, ELITE BOY hung in.

A veterinary inspection of ELITE SPIRIT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

ELITE BOY and BOND ELEGANCE were sent for sampling.
