Racing Incident Report
Race Seven: (518) - MAN YIU HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters
On arrival at the Start, it was noted that ROMAN IMPERO had twisted its right front plate which resulted in the horse having to be replated.
The start of the race was delayed as this process took some time to complete.
ROMAN IMPERO was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.
SUPER SPRINTER began awkwardly.
From wide barriers, ISHVARA, FRIENDS OF KA YING and NUCLEAR POWER were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
KING OF MONGOLIA was also steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
For some distance after the 850 Metres, NUCLEAR POWER travelled keenly and was awkwardly placed behind JADE FORTUNE.
K C Leung (SILVERFIELD) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 600 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of BIG BANG BONG, resulting in that horse being checked when losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled outside OUTLAWED.
K C Leung was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 11 April 2018 and to expire on Monday, 16 April 2018 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
In addition, K C Leung was fined $22,500.
At the entrance to the Straight, OUTLAWED raced tight between SILVERFIELD and DON'T MISS which made the Home Turn awkwardly.
In this incident, OUTLAWED made contact with the hindquarters of SILVERFIELD.
A veterinary inspection of NUCLEAR POWER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

DON'T MISS, ROMAN IMPERO and SILVERFIELD were sent for sampling.

Roman Impero rallied well sitting fore of midfield to mow down Silverfield in the final few metres to add to earlier wins on the Sha Tin turf and dirt. He's been a revelation this season following a move to blinkers and may have the tools to win another in the grade. Plunged late Silverfield was just denied after working to the front 200m out following a long, sustained run from midfield at the 600m. He has been racing well in defeat in recent runs and can pop up at any moment. Favourite Don't Miss grudgingly gave way after dictating the run. He'll be hard to run down next time when reunited with suspended claimer Dylan Mo Hin-tung back on board. Friends Of Ka Ying flashed home from near last to fill a Quartet spot. It was a return to form at his third start following a stable change and he is well-rated off his current mark. Super Sprinter loomed a chance at the 200m following a box-seat run but again his condition gave way 100m out.
