Recap by phillip woo
Southern Legend got his own way in front after leading from gate three and just held off Pingwu Spark by a whisker for a second win this campaign. He's proving a very nice sort over the 1,400m and 1,600m. Punted late Pingwu Spark came on well after easing back to sit fourth in the run to just miss. He's done little wrong in his nine starts and remains one to follow up to a mile. Joyful Trinity had all favours following a box-seat run but was still no match for the top pair. Odds-on favourite Pakistan Star was only grinding away late after travelling second from the rear following a sluggish break. He's better suited over a longer trip. Western Express found little when push came to shove after driving forward to sit second in the run at the 1,200m. He's on his mark. Beauty Only never came on from the back. He's beyond his better days.
