Recap by phillip woo

Ruthven needed every inch of the 1,800m to get up in the shadows of the post following a prominent run. He's clearly a dour stayer. Sergeant Titanium wouldn't go down without a fight after assuming the lead at the 400m from Lucky Girl following a pace-stalking run. He's been a model of consistency this term but the 1,800m does appear to be his best distance. Patriot Hero wore down Good Omen for a placing travelling third from the rear. He had a setback with lameness last month but is naturally coming to hand in his three starts. Good Omen peaked on his run 100m out following a midfield run. He's shown some promise in his past two of three starts but might need a run or two more to hit his best stride. Savvy Six made some ground from the rear after jumping slowly. He's a temperamental type but clearly has some ability and will need both a longer trip and more time to show his true colours. Early favourite Rivet was withdrawn at the gate.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (472) - SNIPE HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1800Meters

SAVVY SIX, which was difficult to load when initially placed in the barriers, will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test before being allowed to race again.

After being loaded into the barriers, RIVET became very fractious and kicked out at the back gates on a number of occasions, resulting in the horse getting its left hind leg caught up over the back gates for some time.

RIVET was removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion the horse was not suitable to race.

Acting on this advice, RIVET was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.

Before being allowed to race again, RIVET will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

All runners were then removed from the barriers.

After being removed from the barriers, SAVVY SIX became fractious, resulting in its bridle coming loose.

SAVVY SIX was quickly captured behind the barriers and the bridle and head gear were refitted to the horse.

SAVVY SIX shifted in abruptly at the start and lost ground after being checked away from the heels of LUCKY GIRL.

LIMITLESS got its head up on a number of occasions when being steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.

Near the 1400 Metres, ZILONG got its head up when travelling keenly and awkwardly placed close to the heels of SERGEANT TITANIUM.

Near the 1350 Metres, LIMITLESS was inconvenienced inside SAVVY SIX which shifted in marginally.

SAVVY SIX was then shifted out abruptly to relieve the tightening.

Approaching the 150 Metres, SAVVY SIX was shifted out away from the heels of GOOD OMEN to obtain clear running.

SAVVY SIX then got its head on the side, shifted out and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PATRIOT HERO passing the 100 Metres.

In the Straight, LIMITLESS hung in under pressure.

After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on LAST KINGDOM at the request of Trainer A T Millard.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.

A veterinary inspection of LIMITLESS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

RUTHVEN and SERGEANT TITANIUM were sent for sampling.
