Racing Incident Report
Race Ten: (346) - HONG KONG SPIRIT HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters
FLYING LOVER was crowded for room on jumping between HARD BALL GET and RAGING BLITZKRIEG which was taken in by MERRYGOWIN.
SMILING PRIDE began only fairly and then shortly after the start was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
From wide barriers, RED ROSE WARRIOR and WHAMPOA STAR were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
After the 1000 Metres, TOP SCORE commenced to travel keenly and making the turn after the 900 Metres got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SAM'S LOVE.
RAGING BLITZKRIEG was held up for clear running until after the 300 Metres and near the 250 Metres raced tight inside MERRYGOWIN when improving into tight running between that horse and BULLISH SMART.
Passing the 150 Metres, HAPPY GUY became unbalanced after being bumped by MERRYGOWIN which shifted out.
Over the concluding stages, SMILING PRIDE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAPPY GUY.
Also over the concluding stages, RAGING BLITZKRIEG raced tight between MERRYGOWIN and TURIN REDSTAR which improved into tight running between that horse and BULLISH SMART.
Because of this, RAGING BLITZKRIEG was not able to be ridden out over the latter stages of the race.
TURIN REDSTAR was unable to obtain clear running in the Straight until close to the finishing line and consequently was not able to be tested.
HARD BALL GET was unable to fully obtain clear running in the Straight and consequently was not able to be properly tested.
TOP SCORE lay out under pressure in the Straight.
For the majority of the race, FLYING LOVER travelled wide and without cover.
SAM'S LOVE, STAR MAJESTIC and BULLISH SMART were sent for sampling.

10 January 2018 Happy Valley Racemeeting - Race 7 (335) The Stewards today interviewed Mr P O'Sullivan, trainer of PHOTON WILLIE, Mr P H Lo, assistant trainer allocated to Mr O'Sullivan's stable for the current season and Jockey B Prebble regarding B Prebble weighing out 2 lbs overweight after no overweight was notified at the time of declarations.
After taking evidence from all parties concerned, the Stewards decided that it was appropriate for B Prebble to be fined the sum of $3,000 for failing to notify the required overweight at the time of declarations.

Additional Veterinary Reports from Happy Valley Racemeeting on 10 January 2018 Subsequent official veterinary inspections (without endoscopy) of ACTUARIAT, CARRY TO WIN, EXCEPTIONAL DESIRE, NICE FANDANGO, NASHASHUK, SPRING WIN, BINGO, CONTRIBUTION, GOOD CHOICE AHEAD, ENCORE BOY, MONEY BOY, GENERAL IRON, MARVEL HERO, EAGLE WAY, THE GOLDEN AGE, MISTER MONTE, WINNING FAITH, LITTERATEUR, SUPER FLUKE, PERPETUAL JOYANCE and MR GENUINE revealed no apparent abnormality.

In a messy race, Star Majestic had a clear run at them after travelling fourth from the rear to get up 60m out to remain unbeaten twice in Class Three this term from six starts. He'll again struggle in Class Two. Bullish Smart kept on gamely after dictating the run to hold second with money for him late. He appreciated the claimer's allowance and can pop up at any time in this grade. Favourite Sam's Love closed off steadily to just nick third after pulling a bit in the run travelling worse than midfield. He's naturally coming to hand in his three starts this term and should remain competitive when next stepping out. The hard-luck horse was Turin Redstar who just failed to place despite getting no clear run following a one-off run beyond midfield until the last 50m. He would have gone close to winning with unimpeded running. Happy Guy stuck on well following a handy run in a vastly improved second-up effort.
