Recap by phillip woo
California Joy was just able to overhaul Experto Crede after barging his way into the open at the 200m with a midfield move for a fifth win from 25 starts. He had been threatening in a few earlier runs but will find it harder with a return to Class Two. Experto Crede found one just too good in the final few metres after racing to the front 200m out following a box-seat run. He just can't seem to clear the last hurdle but stick to him over this trip. Second favourite Sacred Ibis jumped out of his skin late after settling last from a wide gate to make it close on the wire despite a rise in class. He's really come into his own this campaign and has the tools to rise to the top of at least this class. Bombay Blitz finished nicely after shifting into the open at the 300m following a rail's run five back to build on a good run last start over the Valley 1,000m. The rise in trip and move to blinkers had a positive effect and he needs to be kept safe next runs over the 1,400m or 1,600m.
