Racing Incident Report
Race One: (264) - ASTER HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1650Meters
FINE WITH ME was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (fever and inappetence).
Before being allowed to race again, FINE WITH ME will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
RED SUN shifted out at the start and bumped NO LAUGHING MATTER.
PEARL FURU and GLORY STAR bumped on jumping.
HALL OF FAME shifted out at the start and bumped MAGICAL CHAMPION.
GREAT TOPLIGHT began only fairly.
From the outside barriers, MAGICAL CHAMPION and VICTORY FOLLOW ME were steadied to obtain cover.
Also from a wide barrier, A FAST ONE was shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, HALL OF FAME became unbalanced.
Also Passing the winning post on the first occasion, TELECOM BOOM was left racing wide and without cover and then passing the 1200 Metres was allowed to improve its position to race outside the lead.
When being steadied in an attempt to obtain cover behind A FAST ONE, VICTORY FOLLOW ME got its head up on a number of occasions passing the 1400 Metres.
Approaching the 1300 Metres, RED SUN and HALL OF FAME were crowded for room after improving their position to be racing inside the heels of VICTORY FOLLOW ME (Apprentice M F Poon) which was being steadied to obtain a position with cover behind A FAST ONE.
Apprentice Poon was severely reprimanded and advised that whilst there were some circumstances to this incident, nonetheless he must ensure that he is properly clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
In the Straight, VICTORY FOLLOW ME lay in under pressure.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that TELECOM BOOM had sustained a small cut to the left hock.
A veterinary inspection of A FAST ONE and GREAT TOPLIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
TELECOM BOOM, GLORY STAR and PEARL FURU were sent for sampling.

Early favourite Glory Star edged clear in the drive after dictating the running to score first-up this season for his new trainer. He'll return to Class Four on the top of his game and might remain competitive. Pearl Furu came on from midfield to grab second 50m out. He's naturally returned to form and can pop up at any time over this trip and possibly 1,800m. Specked late Victory Follow Me closed well after third from the rear from a wide gate to grab a placing in the dying stages. He's capable of big runs but has trouble winning. Le Pegase kept plugging away chasing the speed to just grab fourth. He's gone close in two of his past three after a win in late-September but the rise in weight has made things tougher. Post-time favourite Telecom Boom worked too hard to sit second in the run and was giving ground 150m out. He's better ridden with patience. Great Toplight was disappointing following a prominent run.
