Recap by phillip woo

Fancied late in betting Better Choice let down very well travelling three back and one out to win going away 60m out. He lived up to an encouraging debut at the Valley and looks to have more to come. Favourite Pick Number One assumed the lead 200m out after settling second in the run and kept on nicely for the Quinella spot in his first outing on this surface following a debut win on the turf.Debutant Nice Kick kept on well for a placing despite running about under pressure following a prominent run. High Volatility just failed to place following a rail's run underneath the winner. He was suited by the return to Class Four but likely needs a longer trip. Bossiee made up heaps of ground after settling a distant last following a slow start. He's racing well this term but tends to get back in his races. Flying Force pulled out with every chance upon straightening following a box-seat run but was retreating approaching the 200m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (218) - CHEVALIER COLD STORAGE AND LOGISTICS HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

BOSSIEE (Apprentice M F Poon) began very awkwardly and then blundered a short distance after the start when bumped by SPORTS MASTER which was taken out by PICK NUMBER ONE.

This resulted in BOSSIEE losing ground.

Apprentice Poon stated that after being badly hampered on jumping, the horse became somewhat detached from the field primarily due to the solid tempo of the race in the early stages.

He said he niggled at BOSSIEE in order to have it make up lost ground, however, BOSSIEE took some time to be able to improve its position to join the field.

He said then in the Straight BOSSIEE closed off strongly.

Apprentice Poon was advised that whilst the Stewards acknowledged that BOSSIEE was badly hampered on jumping and that the tempo in the early stages was good, nonetheless he was told to make every endeavour to ensure that his mounts do not get too far out of their ground in their races.

GREAT SON shifted in at the start and bumped HIGH VOLATILITY.

From wide barriers, ADONIS and GRADE ONE were steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Approaching the 1000 Metres, SPORTS MASTER was hampered when bumped by GREAT SON which was taken in by BETTER CHOICE which was in turn taken in by NICE KICK (J Moreira) which shifted in when not properly clear.

J Moreira was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he provides the required clearance when shifting ground.

ADONIS, which was following GREAT SON, was awkwardly placed close to that horse in consequence.

Passing the 900 Metres, HIGH VOLATILITY and BETTER CHOICE bumped.

Making the turn after the 900 Metres, FLYING FORCE got its head up when proving difficult to settle and awkwardly placed close to the heels of PICK NUMBER ONE.

Also making the turn after the 900 Metres, SPORTS MASTER got its head on the side and lay out towards the heels of GREAT SON.

Approaching the 600 Metres, FLYING FORCE again got its head up when racing close to the heels of PICK NUMBER ONE.

Near the 550 Metres, HIGH VOLATILITY raced tight inside BETTER CHOICE.

In the early part of the Straight, NICE KICK, which was having its first race start, got its head on the side and lay out under pressure and passing the 100 Metres shifted out abruptly and then continued to shift out over the concluding stages.

A veterinary inspection of FLYING FORCE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

BETTER CHOICE and PICK NUMBER ONE were sent for sampling.
