Recap by phillip woo

Golden Glory came on well after travelling fore of midfield to take control 100m out for a first win at his 18th start. He's not genuine but you're always a chance if you're in the race. Treasure And Gold closed well following a rail run in midfield to grab second 50m out. He's knocking on the door in three of his four starts this term and can salute shortly, though might be looking for a 1,400m trip. Post-time favourite A Fast One kept on third best after grabbing a share of the lead 150m out following a box-seat run. The big weight is proving a tough hurdle to clear. Scarborough Fair was held up for a run until the 200m when making ground along the inside following a patient run third from the rear. He's in the right grade now but is better suited over a longer trip. Glory Horsie emerged in front at the 1,100m after a four-way go for the early lead but was on his tippy toes 100m. He only pops up now and then but it wasn't a bad run following a stable change.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (209) - DUMBARTON HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters

HAYMAKER was slow to begin.

From a wide barrier, TRENDIFUL was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

Despite being hard ridden in the early stages, HAY GO LUCKY failed to muster speed.

Making the turn near the 1050 Metres, GLORY HORSIE and FOREVER FUN raced tight.

Passing the 650 Metres, TRENDIFUL was left racing wide and without cover.

Making the turn after the 600 Metres, HAYMAKER got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of VICTORY MUSIC.

At the entrance to the Straight, TREASURE AND GOLD was shifted in away from the heels of ORIENTAL FANTASTIA.

TREASURE AND GOLD then raced in restricted room between ORIENTAL FANTASTIA and A FAST ONE until near the 250 Metres.

SCARBOROUGH FAIR had difficulty obtaining clear running from near the 250 Metres until after passing the 200 Metres.

Passing the 200 Metres, HAY GO LUCKY was shifted out away from the heels of TRENDIFUL.

Approaching the 100 Metres, Apprentice H T Mo (HAY GO LUCKY) dropped his left rein.

As Apprentice Mo was regathering his left rein, HAY GO LUCKY shifted in and inconvenienced TRENDIFUL near the 50 Metres.

W M Lai, the rider of TREASURE AND GOLD, was warned for raising his whip arm above the height of his shoulder.

W M Lai was advised that this was the second occasion this season that the Stewards had spoken to him regarding this matter.

When questioned, Z Purton (HAYMAKER) stated that after improving inside VICTORY MUSIC rounding the Home Turn when that horse shifted out, he intended to continue to shift out from behind FOREVER FUN with a view to attempting to obtain clear running between that horse and GOLDEN GLORY.

He said however that in the early part of the Straight HAYMAKER hung in and despite its head being directed to the outside, HAYMAKER was reluctant to shift out from behind FOREVER FUN.

He said when FOREVER FUN commenced to give ground after the 300 Metres, HAYMAKER improved quickly to be racing inside the heels of that horse, therefore it was no longer available for him to shift to the outside of FOREVER FUN.

He said this resulted in HAYMAKER getting its head up when being checked away from the heels of ORIENTAL FANTASIA near the 250 Metres when badly held up for clear running behind that horse.

After viewing the videos, the Stewards accepted Z Purton's explanation.

A veterinary inspection of HAYMAKER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A FAST ONE, GOLDEN GLORY and TREASURE AND GOLD were sent for sampling.
