Equal favourite Roman Impero dashed to the front 150m out after travelling one off behind midfield and held off the late surge of Royale Elegance for a first win at his 10th start. He has turned the corner for the better in his two starts this term and might be able to win another in the grade. Royale Elegance came on strongly after travelling third from the rear from a wide gate to make it close on the wire. He's naturally come to hand in his three starts for in-form rookie trainer Frankie Lor Fu-chuen and can score soon. Sun Touch stayed on a non-threatening third after a deep run beyond midfield. It was his best run to date following a downgrade but he rarely runs a bad race. Ambitious Speedy was caught deep early on near the speed, hit the front 200m out and grudgingly gave way late. It was a good run up in grade but he's better in Class Five. Dashing Dart came on reasonably well after a deep run in midfield.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (184) - PANASONIC NANOE HAIR DRYER HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters

On arrival at the Start, NUMERO UNO, which was fractious when proceeding to the barriers, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse was suitable to race.

SUNNY ORIENT was crowded for room on jumping between REGENCY DARLING and SUN TOUCH which shifted out.

AMAZING ALWAYS shifted out abruptly at the start, resulting in HAR HAR HEART being crowded for room inside SMART CHARADE which also became badly unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by HAR HAR HEART.

From the outside barriers, ROYALE ELEGANCE and FRESH POWER were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

FRESH POWER then became detached from the field in the middle stages.

After travelling a short distance, SUNNY ORIENT was momentarily crowded for room inside REGENCY DARLING which got its head on the side and shifted in.

SUNNY ORIENT was then awkwardly placed outside the heels of SUN TOUCH.

Despite being ridden along for a considerable distance in the early stages, SUN TOUCH failed to muster speed.

When being ridden along to improve into tight running between ROMAN IMPERO and SUNNY ORIENT, DASHING DART was crowded for room approaching the 1200 Metres when SUNNY ORIENT shifted in.

K Teetan, the rider of SUNNY ORIENT, then immediately shifted his mount back out to relieve the tightening to DASHING DART.

K Teetan was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground and causing interference to other runners.

After the 900 Metres, NUMERO UNO was steadied when crowded for room between AMBITIOUS SPEEDY and BEAUTY DAY which got its head on the side and lay out making the turn.

Near the 650 Metres, ROYALE ELEGANCE shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAR HAR HEART.

Then approaching the 600 Metres, both ROYALE ELEGANCE and SUNNY ORIENT improved between HAR HAR HEART and DASHING DART where there was insufficient room, resulting in ROYALE ELEGANCE being checked after the 600 Metres and SUNNY ORIENT being hampered.

Rounding the Home Turn, BEAUTY DAY got its head on the side and lay out.

NUMERO UNO raced tight in the early part of the Straight inside BEAUTY DAY which, after racing greenly in the early stages, shifted in and again raced greenly when placed under pressure.

Passing the 400 Metres, ROMAN IMPERO was checked away from the heels of SMART CHARADE when disappointed for running between that horse and AMBITIOUS SPEEDY.

ROMAN IMPERO was then shifted to the inside of AMBITIOUS SPEEDY to obtain clear running.

ROYALE ELEGANCE was held up for clear running passing the 300 Metres.

NUMERO UNO was held up for clear running passing the 300 Metres behind RIGHT HONOURABLE and inside BEAUTY DAY.

NUMERO UNO continued to be held up for clear running until near the 250 Metres.

Then near the 50 Metres, NUMERO UNO, which was being eased down, was steadied away from the heels of BEAUTY DAY.

After the race, N Rawiller stated that after being held up for a run in the early part of the Straight, NUMERO UNO did not quicken after obtaining clear running and then did not finish off the race.

A veterinary inspection of NUMERO UNO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Approaching the 250 Metres, the whip of N Callan (DASHING DART) was knocked from his grasp by the whip of K Teetan (SUNNY ORIENT).

Throughout the race, SMART CHARADE travelled wide and without cover.

Apprentice H T Mo (AMAZING ALWAYS) stated that despite being placed under heavy pressure in the early stages, his mount became detached from the field.

He said he rode AMAZING ALWAYS continuously in the early and middle stages to have the horse travel better and it was not until just prior to the Home Turn that AMAZING ALWAYS commenced to make ground.

He added, when placed under pressure in the Straight, AMAZING ALWAYS, in the circumstances, finished off the race well.

A veterinary inspection of AMAZING ALWAYS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY DAY and FRESH POWER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of SMART CHARADE immediately following the race found that horse to be distressed.

Before being allowed to race again, SMART CHARADE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

SUNNY ORIENT, ROMAN IMPERO and ROYALE ELEGANCE were sent for sampling.
