Recap by phillip woo
Backed late, Classic Emperor reclaimed the lead 230m out after handing up to King Genki 1,150m and drew clear to convincingly win his dirt debut in a good time. He didn't disgrace his family genes and may have points in hand on this surface. Divine Boy came on well after travelling worse than midfield to clearly take second despite a return to Class Two. He's running well and remains one to follow over a mile on either surface. People's Knight stayed on well for a placing after settling one off in third. He's likely on or near his mark on both surfaces. Super Chic finished off reasonably well for fourth following a midfield run on the fence. It was a pleasing first run on the surface and he doesn't appear to be far off a winning run on either surface at a mile or 1,800m. King Genki was stopping 100m out after working a bit too hard to lead from a wide gate at the 1,150. Eastern Express made some ground without menacing from beyond midfield.
