Racing Incident Report
Race Seven: (125) - QUEEN'S ROAD CENTRAL HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
WONDERFUL JOURNEY began awkwardly.
SMART BOY and FANTASTIC FEELING bumped shortly after the start, causing both horses to become unbalanced.
From wide barriers, SMART BOY, SHALLUCK and RIGHT HONOURABLE were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
For some distance making the first turn approaching the 1000 Metres, RADIANT TREASURE proved very difficult to settle and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of SMART BOY.
After this, RADIANT TREASURE continued to prove very difficult to settle and was awkwardly placed behind SMART BOY which resulted in RADIANT TREASURE shifting to the outside of that horse after the 700 Metres when continuing to over-race.
Near the 650 Metres, SMART BOY got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FANTASTIC FEELING.
Passing the 300 Metres, SMART BOY was shifted to the inside of WONDERFUL JOURNEY which was directed to the inside of ALL GREAT FRIENDS after being disappointed for running between that horse and DIEGO KOSTA.
When SMART BOY shifted in, RIGHT HONOURABLE, which was following, was shifted out away from that horse in consequence.
Passing the 200 Metres, Apprentice M F Poon (WONDERFUL JOURNEY) momentarily dropped his left rein.
After the 200 Metres, FANTASTIC FEELING got its head on the side and lay out under pressure.
The Stewards questioned Apprentice M F Poon, the rider of the 3rd placegetter, WONDERFUL JOURNEY, regarding his riding out of that horse close to the finishing line.
Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that Apprentice Poon's failure to ride his mount out to the end of the race did not affect the horse's finishing position, he was nonetheless severely reprimanded and advised that had FANTASTIC FEELING beaten home WONDERFUL JOURNEY, he would likely have faced a charge which, in the event of him being found guilty, would have led to the imposition of a significant penalty.
A veterinary inspection of DIEGO KOSTA and RADIANT TREASURE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
WHO ELSE BUT YOU and SMART BOY were sent for sampling.

Punted late Who Else But You led along the fence, straightened near two lengths on top and kept finding to score at his third run following a stable change. He had issues with a quartercrack injury last season but is good when right. Firming favourite Smart Boy came home well near the inside after a one-off run travelling worse than midfield to get second. He's turned the corner this season and can head higher. Wonderful Journey stayed on all right following a prominent run along the fence. The downgrade suited him and a win isn't far off. Fantastic Feeling just failed to get up for a placing following a handy run. He loves this Valley trip but the big weight is always going to anchor his chances. Right Honourable made some headway late after travelling fourth from the rear. It was one of his better runs but prefer to wait for him down in Class Four over the 1,400m. Sensationally-backed Agree came up one-paced following a midfield run.
