Recap by phillip woo

Firming favourite Furious Pegasus came on nicely travelling one off in midfield to take control 120m out for a first at his 22nd start. He might have points in hand after arriving off a mark of 85 now that he's turned the corner for his new trainer. Le Pagase stayed on well after travelling one off in third to just hold rank outsider Wonderful Chaser for second. He's holding his form following a last-start win at the Valley. Wonderful Chaser produced one of his better runs in a long time when closing with every stride after travelling fourth from the rear to make it close for second. He appreciated the complete change of head gear and connections hope it's a sign of things to come. Gold Talent rallied from near the back to finish a distant fourth. He runs an odd good race at times. Ambitous Speedy came on with every chance after travelling behind midfield but didn't get the trip. Get your money ready for him back over the 1,400m.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (109) - THE 29TH WORLD HAKKA CONFERENCE HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1600Meters

SUPERNATURAL was slow to begin and then, despite being ridden along in the early and middle stages, became detached from the field.

GO SANDY GO was also slow to begin.

From the outside barrier, GOLD TALENT was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

After being ridden along in the early stages to obtain a forward position from a wide barrier, BRAVE KNIGHT travelled keenly in the lead in the middle stages.

GO SANDY GO gave ground prior to the Home Turn and was retired out of the race in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection of GO SANDY GO immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils.

WONDERFUL CHASER had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.

Approaching the 200 Metres, GENTLEMEN was awkwardly placed inside the heels of GOLD TALENT.

For the majority of the race, GENTLEMEN travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned regarding the performance of LIGHTNING AND GOLD, B Prebble stated that he had ridden the horse in track work in the lead up to today's race and LIGHTNING AND GOLD felt well and he was of the opinion that the horse had improved since its last run.

He said LIGHTNING AND GOLD travelled comfortably behind the speed, however, when asked for an effort in the early part of the Straight did not quicken and then was very disappointing in the manner in which it gave ground in the Straight.

He added it was of concern to him that LIGHTNING AND GOLD pulled up very quickly of its own accord after the winning post and was inclined to shift towards the outside rail although he was not able to detect any soundness issues with the horse.

A veterinary inspection of LIGHTNING AND GOLD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of BRAVE KNIGHT immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.

FURIOUS PEGASUS and LE PEGASE were sent for sampling.
