Recap by phillip woo

Raging favourite Top Beautiful just got up after chasing the speed on the far side to remain unbeaten in two starts despite a rise in class. He's got the potential to head a lot higher and might be ready to tackle 1,200m. Beauty Master led every step except the final one. He was giving the winner 12 pounds which was the difference in the end. Xinjiang Yarn stayed on nicely travelling fore of midfield to finish a distant third at long odds over an unsuitable trip in his first run following a tendon injury. He'll have a tonne of options going forward as he steps up in distance and if all doesn't pan out, Class Four is around the corner. Hair Trigger was blocked for a run for a good part of the race after settling third from the rear and should have gone closer. An opening day win doesn't appear to be a fluke and he can get up for another shortly. Money Boy only plodded following a handy run after a sluggish start.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine: (45) - TAILORBIRD HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Meters

At declaration time, N Rawiller was declared as the rider of both ACE KING and WINNING FAITH.

It was established that N Rawiller had a firm commitment to ride WINNING FAITH.

As such, the Stewards permitted M Chadwick to be substituted as the rider of ACE KING.

For this declaration error, N Rawiller was fined $2,000.

Whilst in the saddling stalls, BIG TIME BABY had its left front plate refitted.

BIG TIME BABY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

MASTER VIKING began awkwardly, shifted out a short distance after the start and bumped BIG TIME BABY which became unbalanced.

MONEY BOY lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and consequently began only fairly.

Passing the 700 Metres, BIG TIME BABY raced tight outside BEAUTY MASTER.

Approaching the 500 Metres, ACE KING raced tight outside MONEY BOY which shifted out.

HAIR TRIGGER lost its right front plate near the 500 Metres.

Passing the 300 Metres, HAIR TIGGER was shifted to the inside of WINNING FAITH after being disappointed for running between that horse and KHAKI.

Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, BIG TIME BABY, which was inclined to lay in, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of ACE KING.

Then passing the 150 Metres, BIG TIME BABY was crowded for room outside ACE KING which got its head on the side and shifted out when giving ground.

Near the 50 Metres, MASTER VIKING shifted in and bumped SUNSHINE UNIVERSE.

Close to the finishing line, BEAUTY MASTER shifted in and bumped TOP BEAUTIFUL.

When questioned, B Prebble stated that when proceeding to the barriers TRIUMPHANT JEWEL did not initially feel comfortable in its action, however, was striding out freely on arrival at the barriers.

He said after beginning well TRIUMPHANT JEWEL again did not feel comfortable in its action under race pressure and soon became detached from the field.

He said as he was not happy with the way that the horse felt, he eased it down after the 400 Metres.

B Prebble added that, in his opinion, TRIUMPHANT JEWEL did not appear comfortable in front and he relayed this to connections after the race.

A veterinary inspection of TRIUMPHANT JEWEL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

As this was the second time that a rider had expressed concern regarding the action of TRIUMPHANT JEWEL and had eased the horse out of the race because of these concerns, the Stewards ruled that TRIUMPHANT JEWEL must undergo a series of consecutive satisfactory barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being permitted to race again.

TOP BEAUTIFUL and BEAUTY MASTER were sent for sampling.
